Teammate Comparison – Norris vs Piastri
In the last few races there was the explosion of the young Australian talent Oscar Piastri, rookie on a McLaren MCL60 and teammate of another young up-and-coming like Lando Norris. It is therefore interesting to evaluate after twelve races and after Piastri's exploit in Spa what the performance difference is between the two drivers in qualifying. These are approximate analyses, as we do not have comparative telemetry, but nonetheless they give an important idea of how tight the challenge is between these two future stars. We can see how Norris, thanks to his now five-year experience, has prevailed ten times out of twelve, with Piastri fastest only in Saudi Arabia and Belgium; however, the average gap between the two riders remains around 0.17 sec, a truly very low value from a comparative point of view and as a percentage we are around 0.2%. All in all, one of the most interesting comparisons of the year as well as the confirmation that you don't necessarily need experienced drivers to develop a car and make it competitive.
#F1 reigned by Red Bull in the circuit, but by Mercedes in the P&L…
Red Bull Racing, the reigning constructors' champion in the Formula 1 world, has shown remarkable success in terms of delivering record-breaking numbers on the circuit in season 2023.
Despite this achievement, it is worth noting that Red Bull Racing still lags behind perennial powerhouses Ferrari and Mercedes when it comes to total revenue.
This underlines the multi-faceted nature of revenue streams in Formula 1 teams, where on-track success does not always directly correlate to financial gains.

Feedback! The most important part of a development process!
As industrial designers, solving problems is at the core of what we do. This takes repeated loops of building, testing, gaining feedback, uncovering insights and developing new features, products and experiences to test. We understand this itteration process deeply.
But it’s not just designers that learn from feedback. We all should.
It gives me immense pleasure and sense of pride to see my sister Emma Duch - head of hospitality at McLaren Racing standing alongside CEO Zak Brown, explaining how they use feedback from Medallia to improve their cars as well as their visitor and hospitality experiences.
Truely inspirational. Well done Em and team!

I know us Formula 1 fans are all up in our feelings after Sunday's #AustrianGP, but can we please keep a cool head and stop it with the sensationalizing and (mainly online) hating on Max/Lando (depending on your affiliation) already?
The first fifty laps of the race at the Red Bull Ring were kind of a snooze fest, but boy did the last twenty laps deliver. Max and Lando gave us fire! I don't necessarily like drivers taking each other out (anyone else reminded of Austria 2016 when Rosberg and Hamilton collided in the exact same spot, allowing Max to sneak in for a podium like George Russell did this time?), but this kind of action bodes well for the rest of the season.
We asked for close racing, we got close racing!
So let's all chill out and not immediately start accusing Max of 'going back to his old ways' and Lando of 'being arrogant ever since he won in Miami' (not my words, all courtesy of the lovely F1 'fans' on social media a.k.a. the internet's toilet).
Lando is currently 81 points behind Max in the Driver Standings. This means we could have an actual battle for the championship on our hands. It will require both drivers, as well as their teams, to bring their absolute A-game every single week.
To continue delivering peak performance, Max and Lando will have to
💡 be smart about managing risk and reward to decide when and how to attack
💡 regulate their emotions, and not let the heat of the battle knock them off balance
💡 maintain an internal locus of control, to help them focus on controlling the controllables and not worry about anything else
Red Bull Racing & Red Bull Technology and McLaren Racing will have to
💡 create/maintain a safe space for people to fail, because that will make them less likely to
💡 be transparent in communication, and crystal clear about roles and responsibilities, while refraining from micromanaging, to stimulate ownership
💡 learn from mistakes and celebrate success to keep the dopamine flowing
We're talking about ultimate high performers on ultimate high performing teams so I'm sure this is all second nature to them. But we have to keep in mind: it's very easy to regulate your emotions and maintain a safe space when you're winning. When the pressure is on is when these things are both most important 𝙖𝙣𝙙 most difficult.
We're only a few races into this battle so it remains to be seen how intense the fight will be. But I was yelling at my TV again on Sunday, something I haven't done since Abu Dhabi 2021.
I'm ready for the action at one of my favorite circuits on the calendar.
Bring on Silverstone!

It is heartening to see that the world of motorsport, one of the the most technically advanced sectors, places so much value on the knowledge and experience that 'oldies' can bring to the table.
Perhaps those organisations that are struggling because they lack experience and knowledge should take a lead from the very demanding and competitive sport that is F1?
The Alpine Racing TRX Simulator is the first commercial Racing Simulator to be co-developed with F1 Engineers with ergonomic and performance feedback from professional drivers including Esteban Ocon.
