Many people will not be aware that we have entered the new Hijri year 1446 and Sunday 7 July is the first day of the Islamic month of Muharram. Had it been the first day of the Gregorian calendar every one of us would know about it and some may have even celebrated it. Whilst as Muslims we don’t “celebrate” the new Hijri year, we have become somewhat detached from our Islamic heritage and many of us are oblivious of what lunar month or year we are in. Three of the pillars of Islām are carried out according to the Islamic calendar: Zakāh, fasting and the Ḥajj - knowing about the Islamic months and understanding them on a deeper level will help keep us connected to our Islamic heritage. It’s also important to note that The Day of Ashura falls on the 10th day of Muharram, which is expected to be on 16th/17thJuly 2024 in the UK this year. Know the truth

In the sixth year of the Islamic calendar, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his followers set out to perform the pilgrimage in Mecca. However, the Quraysh, the dominant tribe in Mecca, prevented them from entering the city. After negotiations, a treaty was established in Hudaybiyyah, stipulating a truce between the Muslims and the Quraysh for ten years. Initially, some of the terms seemed unfavorable to the Muslims, leading to disappointment among the companions. However, the wisdom of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) became evident over time. Peace allowed Islam to spread peacefully, and within two years, many tribes embraced the faith. The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah demonstrated the Prophet's strategic vision, emphasizing the long-term benefits of peaceful coexistence. It was a lesson in patience, diplomacy, and trust in the divine plan. Ultimately, the events that seemed like setbacks at the time paved the way for greater success and happiness for the Muslim community. This story teaches us that success and happiness often require patience, strategic thinking, and trust in a broader plan. What may seem like a setback today could be a stepping stone to greater achievements in the future. #patience #successmindset
