How long does success take? Ask the Kings!

How long does success take? Ask the Kings!

Like a lot of people, I just heard of the Kings and I can't stop watching them. Their dance skills and stunts are badass. Ever since they won NBC's World of Dance, their videos are going viral!

A hip hop group from India winning World of Dance? How could that be? The most urban thing I've seen from India was Akon's Chammak Challo and that was still pretty Bollywood!

The Kings must have had some lucky break. Right? WRONG!

These guys have been at it for over 10 years. They have entered numerous competitions, rebranded a few times, have hundreds of YouTube videos and a studio in Mumbai. Here's one of their early videos from 2009:

When we see the success of others, we rarely see the blood, sweat and tears behind the glory. Like Malcom Gladwell explains in the Outliers, success also takes time. 10,000 hours in fact!

When I started QuickTapSurvey, I thought that we would have had the business figured out in 6 months. In reality, it took us 6 months to get started and many years to figure it out.

When you're trying to build a business, you need hard work and a bit of luck. You also need a long enough runway and the strength to persevere, especially when times are tough.

There may be days when you feel like quitting but like the Kings, you'll never see success if you don't keep at it.

Reading first few paragraphs, I immediately thought of Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers" too
