A Little Help From Your Friends

A Little Help From Your Friends

Hey friends. You probably noticed that it’s hard to hire people right now. Or if you are in practice, it’s hard to find a job that meets your needs. Due to those things being true, a lot of people have arrived at the conclusion that vet med is broken.

I’m not a fan of this theory though and I believe that with some small changes where the humans of veterinary medicine can learn how to interact effectively with each other, this can and will be an amazing career that will reward those who walk the path well.

18 months ago I built a training series and set up a mentoring program for a few clients whom I knew wanted some help keeping their people happy.

They were struggling with things like finding the time to get mentoring done. Finding all the training needed to cope with the various challenges of being a vet in one place. Basically, they wanted to do good but didn’t have the time to spare or know where to start.

Luckily I had developed a few resources to help the veterinary graduates I had mentored over the years so when I took a break from life on the front line of veterinary practice, I did two things.

1. I wrote a book to try to capture some of the lessons I thought would help these young vets.

2. I pulled together a series of live online training events and offered myself as a mentor to help these client practices out.

Today that book (So You're A Vet...Now What?) has sold several thousand copies all over the world and the course which didn’t even have a name back then is now called VetX:Thrive.

And both things are available to help your young vets learn, grow and engage in their work with your practices and careers much more effectively.

Back then, because everything was taught live and the number of entrants was low, the class was expensive. Almost $1500 per place.

Now, with greater numbers showing up and the awesome technology available, the course now costs more than 80% less (it was always important to me to make this as affordable and valuable for the younger vets as possible). But that’s fine because more people get to learn the lessons that help them to have a happy healthy career in veterinary medicine.

If you are interested benefiting from this co-operative model of learning and development, please reach out to me.

If you are struggling for time to help your vets get the support they need. We are here.

If you are a vet wondering if you made the right choice or feeling burned out, please don't give up. Not yet. There's a good chance we can help.

If you don’t know where to start, then we have your back.

Message me or reach out. VetX exists to help the humans of veterinary medicine succeed. Let me know how we can best serve you. And have a great day.

I agree, Vet med is not broken, it is what we make of it and our circumstances. Some areas need improvement in some practices but fundamentally, it is not broken. The VetX:Thrive course is excellent and brilliant value. Though I am not a new or even recent graduate, I am learning lots from it (I originally started the course as I couldn't afford the leadership course or coaching). Highly recommend.
