Meet Cheryl Crane, Manager, Technology Solutions Salesforce

It’s easy to identify Cheryl Crane among her Planet Fitness Information Technology co-workers.

“I’m the loud one.”

Unlike many of her IT colleagues, Cheryl’s background isn’t in coding or programming. She cut her teeth in event planning and digital marketing. Her first role at PF was as an area marketing manager. For four years, she got to know franchisees in the Midwest.

“I loved trying to brainstorm the best solution and get creative in problem solving with the ‘zees,” Cheryl said.

Cheryl’s transition from marketing to technology gave some co-workers a feeling of déjà vu.

“I started my new role just as I was returning from getting married and having changed my name,” Cheryl recalled. “People would say, ‘That new person in IT looks a lot like Cheryl in Marketing.”

“Cheryl in Marketing” is now Cheryl, Manager, Technology Solutions who oversees the Salesforce team that touches nearly every corner of the Planet Fitness business. On any given day, she may be helping the international team with a development question, supporting the equipment team, or managing a variety of projects.

“There’s never a day where you do the same thing twice,” Cheryl said.

Her biggest project is at home where she is raising her 19-month-old son. Her family enjoys the same natural wonders of the Granite State that Cheryl appreciated growing up in New Hampshire. “We love the trails and the beaches.”

Cheryl also practices yoga, a discipline that requires balance to positively impact mental and physical health. She sees the same secret sauce in the Planet Fitness culture. “This company understands that’s it ok to have fun at work,” Cheryl said. “It’s good for morale and good for productivity.”
