What happened at Quora World Meetup Week 2021? Over a thousand people from all over the world came together to hang out, discuss writing tips, and share what it's like being part of Quora!

Over the course of the week, we hosted 27 meetups across 20 different languages, with over a thousand participants in total. The meetups had around 30 to 60 participants each from all parts of the world (India, US, Africa, Canada, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, US, and Japan - just to name a few!) who talked about their experiences writing on Quora.

Over the years, the Quora team and our avid readers & writers have been organizing meetups, officially and unofficially, in many places around the world to discuss experiences, share tips, and feel connected. In 2017, volunteers across the globe joined forces with us to organize different local meetups and promote not only knowledge sharing but also new friendships and connections as part of Global Writer Meetup Week. In 2020, we went online to truly embody the spirit of Quora World Meetup Week and get together from wherever we were located. This new tradition continued in 2021, with the advances in virtual meeting technology making things even easier than before.

To check out how the 2021 meetup experience was for some attendees, check out this page, where some attendees are sharing their thoughts and feedback.

This year, we had even more Zoom breakout rooms and some of them even went for several rounds to allow for even more mingling and socialization. We extended the Q&A segments to allow for more questions and introduced some polls and quizzes to liven things up and to get feedback. We also ran a couple meetups for specific groups of our contributors such as Space Admins.

Please enjoy a handful of pictures from some of our meetups below:

Overall, we felt like the meetups this year went really well and you left us with a lot of ideas and feedback on how we can improve things for meetups to come. A few things we are already are thinking about are more frequent meetups & focus group discussions (perhaps quarterly), longer meetups to allow for more Q&A and breakout room time, and longer timeframes to allow for sign-ups.

Thank you to everyone who attended! Sharing and growing the world’s knowledge and building a community around that is the best part of being on Quora - it’s certainly the best part of being on the Quora team for us - so thanks to those of you who attended for your role in this. Stay tuned for more news from us on possible quarterly meetups & groups. Best wishes to you and yours as we all continue to navigate these tough waters that have been the last year and a half.
