New plans for Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold6 foldable smartphone are coming this year, and a report suggested that it will no longer have additional variants.

Fold6 would be a single model release for its arrival later this year, contrary to the earlier reports that Samsung is developing additional options for the device, including premium and cheaper variants.

South Korean news agency, The Elec, brought out new details about what to expect for this year's Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, suggesting that the company has already stepped back from its plans for a multi-variant release this year. This means that the Galaxy Z Fold6 will only feature a single model for this year's release, going against earlier rumors about three variants coming.

There are two main reasons why Samsung is taking a step back, and the first one says the company feels like there would be not much distinction between the three variants and its competition in the market.

Next, Samsung is considering the "market conditions," especially as to how one Fold6 variant would cast a shadow against the other versions and trump its sales.

Ultra and FE Variants Temporarily Canceled

With these being said, Samsung would stick with a solo release of a mainline Galaxy Fold6 for this year's round of new foldables, going back-to-back with its Galaxy Flip6, also expected for its 2024 update.

It is unknown when Samsung will bring these two other variants in the future, but in this Summer's Unpacked, it will bank yet again on the Galaxy AI which helped Galaxy S24's success in the market.

Samsung's Foldable Smartphones

Massive reports behind Samsung's foldable arrived several months after last year, suggesting that the South Korean tech giant is looking to bring new entry-level variants for its flagship Fold. There have been debates as to what it will be called but it went down to the Galaxy Fold6 FE, a.k.a. the Fan Edition variant which were the designated budget devices across its lineup.

Other leaks and rumors focused on a redesign and additional features for the Fold6 lineup that is expected later this year, particularly with thinner bezels and bigger batteries for the book-like folding phones.

However, it would not only be two Fold6 variants, but another one called the Galaxy Fold6 UItra will be the far superior smartphone in terms of performance and size, similar to other Ultra variants.

These early reports are now disputed by a renowned analyst and insider for Samsung's developments, suggesting that the company will cut back on its plans this year. Instead of the supposed Ultra and FE variants, 2024 would only see one Galaxy Fold6 release, similar to the previous years when it was released, especially during this time of growing foldable competition, including its own.
