Dell is preparing to unveil an Arm-powered version of its famous XPS 13 notebook, and a leaked document has revealed further specifics. VideoCardz discovered and published a 311-page document detailing the upcoming XPS 13 and Qualcomm's next-generation Windows on Arm CPUs.
Leaked Dell documents indicate that next week will see the release of Snapdragon X Elite laptops powered by Qualcomm, per The Verge. Previous leaks revealed Dell's XPS 13 with Snapdragon X Elite will come in FHD, QHD+, and OLED screens.
What's in the Dell Leaked Document?
Dell plans a 2022 XPS 13 Plus update. The update will include a touch bar on the top row of the keyboard and two USB-C I/O ports. The FHD+ display can be used for 13 hours, the QHD+ for 12 hours, and the OLED for 9 hours. Local movie playback on the FHD+ version is over 29 hours, better than on Windows laptops.
Moreover, the XPS 13 will employ LG Display's new "tandem OLED" display, according to the leaked doc. It also indicates LG Display's 2019 tandem OLED panels for vehicle displays now feature 17-inch foldable screens, and Apple introducing a new iPad Pro with a dual OLED display for brightness and durability.
The report includes specifics on the anticipated battery life of the Qualcomm-powered XPS 13 variants. Dell is set to introduce the XPS 13 Qualcomm in June 2024, coinciding with rumored Surface device launch dates. Microsoft may use tandem OLED displays for its Arm-powered Surface Pro 10.
Futhermore, the Dell leak reveals the schedule for Qualcomm's next-generation laptop Snapdragon processors. Dell mentions "QC Oryon V2" for the second half of 2025, with "QC" referring to Qualcomm and "Oryon" to Nuvia's 2021 CPU technology. A V3 version of these chips is expected in late 2027, implying a long gap between updates.

Although there are questions on the legitimacy of the leak, the alleged Dell document appears to be trustworthy per an analysis by TechRadar. It noted that the leaked document suggests that the Snapdragon X-equipped Dell XPS 13 Plus will have the same battery size but better battery life. Dell's comparison employs an older Intel mobile processor, yet the ARM-based SoC outperforms Intel Meteor Lake devices. Independent testing is necessary to validate these claims beyond Qualcomm's standards.

Dell Downplays Earlier Massive Data Leak
The latest incident follows a recent Dell announcement that a data breach affected millions of customer names and addresses, as previously reported by TechTimes.
The earlier Dell data leak compromised customer names, addresses, Dell hardware specifications, and order information such as service tags, item descriptions, purchase dates, and warranties. Dell did not specify whether foreign aggression or internal incompetence caused the breach that reportedly impacted "49 million customer and information systems" purchased from the company "between 2017 and 2024."
The firm assured clients that the exposure of no email addresses, phone numbers, bank information, or other critical data reduced risk. Dell warned consumers about phishing and other cyber threats involving exposed data. Cybercriminals may use physical mailings with malicious URLs or devices like DVDs or flash drives to implant malware, despite not exposing email addresses.
