Amazon's Fire TV will soon use artificial intelligence (AI) to deliver recommendations to users on what movies and TV shows to watch based on personalized requests.

To commemorate Amazon Fire TV's 10th anniversary, Amazon announced this new AI-powered voice search functionality on Thursday. Like a friend, Alexa will make recommendations, making it easy for the users to find what they want to watch.

The recently launched AI-powered search feature, trained on data from services like IMDb, is reportedly capable of finding content based on topics, genres, plot points, actors, and quotes. The AI upgrade aims to enable users to consult with Alexa in a manner similar to asking a friend who is an expert in movies and TV series.

The search employs a large language model, or LLM, developed by Amazon that shows content using natural language inputs. For instance, if users ask Alexa to recommend a comedy about Americans who live overseas, "Mamma Mia" or "Emily in Paris" are probably the first choices that will come up.

Viewing options will also not be limited to only Amazon Prime movies. Alexa's personalized AI search results can also direct users to titles on other streaming services. The improved Fire TV search function is expected to be available on Fire TV devices running FOS6 and later in the coming weeks.

Like Amazon Fire TV, Gemini and YouTube Music Also Use AI

Amazon's upcoming feature is one of many examples of AI being incorporated into various media systems. According to recent reports, YouTube Music will soon be available to Gemini as an extension.

With the integration of the AI chatbot, users can ask Gemini for music by song, artist, album, genre, and more. The integration also lets users connect YouTube Music to the AI chatbot, allowing them to easily access their library of tunes using several prompts.

Although YouTube Music streaming will not be linked to Google's generative AI, having Gemini would give users an integrated experience for music entertainment needs. With this connection, users only need to ask the AI chatbot to obtain content that shows the artist's name, album art, song duration, and play count.

It would soon be found under the "Extensions" menu. Gemini is known for its other Google apps integrations, such as Flights, Hotels, Google Maps, the Workspace suite apps, and the main YouTube platform.

Spotify AI Playlists

Spotify recently released a test version of its AI-generated playlists. This beta version allows users to create and personalize AI playlists using simple prompts.

In addition to more standard playlist creation requests, Spotify's AI also allows users to request a more extensive range of tailored playlists, such as music to serenade their pets or rhythms to combat a zombie apocalypse.

Prompts could be related to places, animals, colors, activities, movie characters, or emojis. However, the company claimed that the best playlists are produced using ideas from various genres, moods, artists, and decades.

To find the AI Playlist, users should open the Spotify mobile app and look for "Your Library" in the bottom-right corner of the application.
