Tech fans may have to wait longer to see a foldable iPhone. According to reports, Apple will not produce such a device before 2027.

A report from Gadgets 360 indicated that Apple is still testing foldable phone components and performance, notably the crease and dependability. This concern over the wrinkle may have delayed Apple's foldable iPhone debut.

Apple rivals Samsung, OnePlus, and Vivo have already debuted their foldable phones, and Apple is still planning to create its own version.

Experts expect foldable smartphone shipments to reach 17.8 million in 2024, representing 1.5% of the smartphone market. In 2022, Samsung had over 80% of the market, but today it struggles to keep 50%. 

Meanwhile, Huawei's 4G Pocket S is improving, and its first tri-fold phone in Q3 might boost its market share to 30%. Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have struggled to sell foldable phones, but Motorola's Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra have done well.

Foldable iPhone Release Still Unsure

Apple is developing at least two clamshell-style folding iPhone prototypes. Apple is also negotiating supply deals with LG and Samsung Display. 

Additionally, Apple has applied for foldable display patents. The first foldable iPhone is predicted to have a 6-inch exterior display and an 8-inch primary display.

Although rumors and evidence indicate Apple remains interested in producing its foldable phone, possibly the iPhone Flip, Apple has yet to enter the market.

Whether Apple will focus on the iPhone Flip is unknown. According to speculation, the tech giant may have spent years researching folding handset technology. Despite not releasing a foldable iPhone in September 2023, Apple developed the Apple Vision Pro AR/VR headset, which debuted in early 2024. 

In 2017, there were speculations that a foldable iPhone would be released in 2020. However, that timeframe passed without result. Recently, speculations indicated that Apple may produce a foldable device in 2025.

According to CNET, the development process of a foldable iPhone has struggled to match Apple's rigorous requirements. There were also speculations that the firm was working on an iPad Mini-sized folding tablet.

Nevertheless, experts and leakers have repeatedly delayed the release date, keeping Apple fans yearning for news. Apple's foldable venture is still a mystery, prompting fans to speculate and hope.

Apple iPhone 16 Updates

Meanwhile, the upcoming iPhones may have the world's thinnest bezels. According to a Forbes report, Apple is decreasing blank spaces surrounding the display to make its next-generation iPhones more immersive and elegant.

Ice Universe, a reliable informant, leaked the information. The report claims the iPhone 16 Pro will beat Samsung's Galaxy S24 as the narrowest-bezel phone. The article states that a buddy confirmed that the iPhone 16 Pro will have reduced bezels, putting it closer to the "dream form."

Samsung has the narrowest bezels. This information suggests Apple is aiming to dethrone its rival. The source specifies the iPhone 16 Pro, but the iPhone 16 Pro Max may have a narrower bezel.

Apple fans and techies anxiously expect the new iPhones' September debut. Thinner bezels, different screens, superior camera lenses, and enhanced thermal design make the upcoming iPhones highly anticipated.
