Microsoft's best artificial intelligence tools will now be outsourced to OpenAI for development, effectively giving the AI giant the keys to advance most of the booming technology, as claimed by cybersecurity firm Okta CEO Tom McKinnon.

According to the CEO, Microsoft's move as while OpenAI produces all the fun things, the IT behemoth may end up becoming a consulting body in AI development, directly calling the move "bizarre."

Microsoft has invested a total of over $13 billion in OpenAI so much so that the tech titan said last year that its investment will speed up AI advancements, ensuring that these advantages be broadly used throughout the world. 

It comes as a number of the company's key products, like its generative AI chatbot CoPilot and PCs outfitted with generative AI software, begin to use technology developed by OpenAI, the lab that created the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT.

OpenAI in Microsoft

Microsoft's Azure OpenAI service also provides a varied range of prebuilt and vetted OpenAI models, allowing developers to easily create generative AI experiences. 

Microsoft and OpenAI's collaboration also extends to cybersecurity, as CoPilot for Security, a generative AI-based security solution, has been shown to be powered by OpenAI's model. 

Using security-specific plugins, such as information related to an organization, trusted sources, and global threat data, to respond to a user inquiry. By using plugins as data point sources, security experts may extend the solution's capabilities while also gaining more information and visibility into vulnerabilities.  

CoPilot for security will follow responsible AI principles while increasing defender effectiveness and capacity to enhance security outcomes at machine speed and scale.

OpenAI in Apple

Microsoft is not the lone company that has recently collaborated with OpenAI to develop its AI tools as Apple, during its WWDC 2024, unveiled that Apple Intelligence in iOS 18 will be integrated with OpenAI's ChatGPT. 

Apple Intelligence enables the iPhone to grasp languages, pictures, and context. In smart concentration mode, an innovative notification system prioritizes important alerts and conceals the rest.

Furthermore, writing capabilities in Notes, Mail, Pages, and third-party apps assist users in writing correctly and minimizing mistakes. Without the need for typing, Apple Intelligence can summarize large texts and make smart email answers.

Apple Intelligence generates AI-generated visuals in a variety of styles using device pictures. These will be utilized as message overlays and standalone applications in a new picture playground. Third-party developers can also take advantage of this capability.

A new AI-powered cleaning tool enhances photo editing in Photos, allowing users to better explore their collection, which includes video content.

Apple Intelligence enhanced Siri with additional actions and a screen-clearing interface. Siri may use App Intents to create more complex multi-step inquiries to find files, display photos, and do cross-application tasks.
