The world of Mac gaming is expanding, and Ubisoft is the latest commit to Apple with its Assassin's Creed Shadows coming directly to the platform on the same day as its release. However, that is not the only bomb dropped bythe French gaming company, as it would also be available to Apple's iPad later, for all M-series, Silicon chipset-powered devices.

As part of the WWDC 2024, this new collaboration confirms the growth of Mac gaming, with Ubisoft committing more titles to arrive soon.

Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed Shadows is Coming to Mac on the Same Day

The recent WWDC 2024 showcase saw Apple VP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, bring out a special guest from Ubisoft to announce its commitment to bringing new games for the Mac. During the showcase, Marc-Alexis Côté, Assassin's Creed Vice President and Executive Producer, announced the same-day arrival of Assassin's Creed Shadows to Mac.

It means that come November 15, Assassin's Creed Shadows' global release date, Macs would also be able to purchase and install the games to enjoy on their M-series-powered computers.

This is the first AAA-rated game that will drop to the Mac at the same time as other platforms like Windows PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

iPad Version Coming Later, Other Games Promised

Côté also revealed that an iPad version of Shadows is coming later, as part of Federighi's announcement of Mac's new Game Porting Toolkit 2 which makes it easier for developers to bring more Mac games, and transform these titles for iPhone and iPad access.

Ubisoft also announced that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will also arrive on Macs in the future, while Federighi confirmed Baldur's Gate 3, Dungeons & Dragons, and Death Stranding Director's Cut are also coming to Mac.

Apple's M-series Mac Gaming is Growing

Apple's foray into PC gaming was made possible with last year's macOS 14 Sonoma, introducing the latest experience for Mac computers to enjoy renowned video games right on the platform. This was made possible through Apple's upgrade to Silicon chips, with all M-series-powered computers getting the chance to access the promised titles.

Game Mode is one of Mac's most stellar features that allows a significant experience on Apple computers, allowing the likes of Dynamic Caching for the M3 which centers on the GPU's management of memory usage, and more.

Apart from that, Apple also added controller support for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac to bring a console-like experience to the PCs.

The currently available games include AAA-rated titles like Resident Evil VIII and other Resident Evil remake releases, Assassin's Creed Mirage, Stray, and more.
