Blackmagic Design has unveiled a comprehensive workflow tailored for producing immersive Apple Vision Pro video, introducing the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera system and updated DaVinci Resolve post-production software.

World's First Commercial Camera System for Apple Immersive Video

The newly introduced Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera system and updated DaVinci Resolve post-production software allow professional filmmakers to explore Apple Immersive Video, a cutting-edge storytelling format designed to captivate audiences with its immersive qualities.

The Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera is touted as the world's first commercial camera system engineered to capture Apple Immersive Video.

This innovative system leverages 8K, 3D video with a 180-degree field of view, and Spatial Audio. The URSA Cine Immersive camera enables filmmakers to record dynamic scenes. It features a fixed, custom stereoscopic 3D lens system and dual 8K image sensors.

Accompanying the URSA Cine Immersive camera is an updated version of DaVinci Resolve. This new iteration introduces powerful features tailored for editing Apple Immersive Video, providing filmmakers with the tools they need to craft compelling narratives in this emerging format.

According to Blackmagic Design, a dedicated immersive video viewer and support for seamless integration with Apple Vision Pro allow editors to easily navigate and manipulate immersive footage, ensuring a streamlined editing process.

On the other hand, the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera boasts a magnesium alloy chassis and lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate composite skin, enabling filmmakers to maneuver swiftly on set. It also has connectivity options such as 12G-SDI out, XLR audio, 10G Ethernet, and USB-C.

Moreover, the URSA Cine Immersive camera features built-in high-performance network storage, allowing filmmakers to record directly to the included Blackmagic Media Module and sync footage to Blackmagic Cloud and DaVinci Resolve media bins in real time.

It also features the new Blackmagic RAW Immersive file format, incorporating camera metadata, lens data, and custom LUTs.

Cloud Store Technology

The integration of Cloud Store technology further enhances the URSA Cine Immersive camera's capabilities, enabling high-speed recording and real-time access to files over high-speed 10G Ethernet.

Additionally, the Blackmagic Media Dock facilitates fast post-production workflows by providing high-speed access to media from multiple URSA Cine Immersive cameras simultaneously, making editing and color correction more efficient.

However, Blackmagic Design has not yet provided a specific release date for the new tools. The company said that it will be available later this year.

"We are thrilled to announce the first-ever commercial camera system and post-production software that supports Apple Immersive Video, giving professional filmmakers the tools to create remarkable stories with this powerful new format pioneered by Apple," Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty said in a press release
