This is a remix of flickr user telethon's photo Serengeti.

I was writing something about nomads and baobabs, and the analogy between the legend about how baobabs used to wander the earth on their roots -- like nomads. One day God got sick of them incessantly relocating and moving and he planted them all upside down, with their roots up towards the sky and their branches as roots. Since then, they remain sedentary.

I realized, though, that I don't have a single photo of a baobab, so I mixed up this one to compensate :)

Ryan tries out a massage chair thing Annick was giving away. We're listening to Animal Collective - Ryan says that I will like them.

We slept in tents beneath a canvas-covered carport, beneath parachutes. Six of us.

We camped at 2:45 and walk-in, which basically means we camped where there weren't any cars or RVs. We had to walk or bike about a quarter mile to our campsite from the perimeter of the packed city. It was worth it! We could sit out on our porch, and look at the stars, or the lights of the city. We had a piss bucket thirty feet away and our nearest neighbor was about another quarter mile away or so. Privacy! Desert Villa style! All Ryan's idea.

Much of the daily fun of being at Burning Man comes from dressing up like a superhero with your friends.

Is that a message? "It's more of a mission statement" Ryan replied. From the Radio Free Steve series of shirts.

A camping group - six of us shared this tent structure. Justin, Ryan, Merci, Cobi, Floor, Jules in front, with lil' WC.

Cars loaded up with canned food, futons, tents, parachutes, puppets, bikes and salvaged carpet.

Ryan emcees the Neighborhood blogging panel. Notice his laptop held together with masking tape. And the antique letters on the overhead projector, announcing the panel in progress.
