Developing Australia's Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Industry
About us
Jet Zero Australia is a leading-edge Australian bioenergy company established to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and driven by our determination to build a better Australia today. Our vision is to be at the forefront of the emission reduction revolution, with plans progressing to develop Australia’s first Alcohol to Jet Fuel (ATJ) facility, taking surplus ethanol production from agricultural and sugarcane by-products, and converting it to SAF via a plant to be built in Queensland. We're excited to be recognised as a finalist for the 2024 Australian Aviation Awards' Sustainability Initiative of the Year alongside our friends at Cairns Airport and Air bp. Our flagship Project Ulysses will be the first Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility in Australia, and Asia-Pacific region, aiming to produce over 100 million litres of #SAF. Jet Zero Australia is an early mover in the new SAF sector in Australia. We expect to reduce the lifecycle carbon emissions of domestic aviation fuel by >70% when compared with current fossil-based A1 jet fuel, dramatically reducing the carbon footprint throughout the entire aviation supply chain. This achievement is a testament to our engineers and our project partners who are supporting us in this important #SAF journey. Jet Zero Australia re-affirms its leadership in the development of ATJ technology globally. With confirmation by LanzaTech that the licence agreement announced in February between LanzaJet and Jet Zero Australia is one of the world's first to be signed. The agreement represents the execution of the first step for the commercialisation of the ATJ process outside the US. Jet Zero Australia looks forward to bringing this revolutionary technology to Far North Queensland. We intend to realise our vision to make Australia a leader in the development of SAF production from agricultural by-products. Airbus Chief Representative Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Stephen Forshaw speaking to The Australian Financial Review about Australia's desperate need for #SAF. Australia needs to move quickly in this industry or risk being frozen out of a space that we have the ability to prosper from.
Airbus Australia's Stephen Forshaw says Australia is in imminent danger of losing the clean jet fuel race to Singapore "if we don't get the policy settings right in the next 12 to 18 months". Aviation emissions remain a large threat to Australia’s net zero target, but sustainable flight has a promising future. The hard-to-abate aviation sector plays an essential role in Australian transport and travel. Australia’s vastness and comparative isolation means that no alternative to the short-haul domestic flight currently exists and so the sector must decarbonise through other methods. With domestic SAF targets already in place and minimum blend requirements being implemented internationally, Jet Zero is positioned at the forefront of the burgeoning Australian sustainable fuel industry. #Sustainability #RenewableDiesel #BioEnergy #Aviation #Transport https://lnkd.in/gt4_uXRv

Tonight was Australian Government Budget night and Jet Zero Australia welcomes the enhanced support the Government has announced in accelerating the domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) sector as a key component of the Future Made in Australia plan. We strongly welcome the establishment of the new $1.7 billion Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund that will be administered through Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to support priority clean industry projects for the production of low carbon liquid fuels, green metals and batteries. This represents a highly significant boost to the existing $30 million SAF Funding Initiative, and will provide additional co-investment opportunities alongside private equity and state government support in getting more SAF projects to Financial Investment Decision over the next decade. The Government has also committed $18 million to work with industry on a low carbon liquid fuels certification scheme for SAF carbon credits by expanding the existing Guarantee of Origin scheme, which is something our ‘Book and Claim’ partner Trovio Group is well placed to support. Additional funds have also been dedicated by the Government for investigating over the next two years the potential introduction of mandates and other demand-side measures that mirror other countries such as the UK, EU, Japan and Singapore. This represents an important first formal acknowledgement by the Commonwealth Government of the importance SAF mandates will likely play in taking maximum advantage of this exciting growth industry as part of the net zero transition. Jet Zero Australia is working hard to play our role in a Future Made in Australia, and to support the 350,000 Australians working across our supply chain in agriculture, aviation, energy, defence and logistics sectors. https://lnkd.in/dp5ewjZg
