According to #TeamUHN's Hayley Panet Resnick MHSc, CHE, MRT(MR) - the best advice about how to make sustainability a focus is just to start! As the senior manager of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging at UHN, Panet has presented on sustainability at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting. The presentation centred on her involvement in the creation of a multidisciplinary green radiology leadership team. “The more conversations, meetings, and publications we have about sustainability practices and green initiatives, the more it will elevate discussions and promote and highlight opportunities for meaningful change,” she says. It was 2013, when CBC journalist Harry Forestell first noticed tremors in his right hand. Harry was later diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and referred to UHN's Krembil Research Institute where he met Dr. Anthony Lang, a world renowned expert in movement disorders. As Harry struggled with the side effects, Dr. Lang suggested he undergo deep brain stimulation (DBS), a treatment which creates electrical impulses that target areas of the brain controlling movement. After a successful treatment, Harry was able to return not only back to the office, but also back in front of the camera! Read about Harry's experience👇 https://bit.ly/4f5UpCY

Scientists at UHN's KITE Research Institute found that individuals with concussions are at a higher risk of experiencing visually-induced motion sickness. As virtual reality technology becomes more prevalent in clinical settings, ensuring that it is safe and effective for use in vulnerable populations, like those with a concussion, is a priority. 👉 https://lnkd.in/grstkyUY

What's the best way to reduce concussions in contact sports? Reduce contact, rather than solely improving technology. Canadian doctors and brain injury experts, including those from UHN's Canadian Concussion Centre, believe CFL players should be encouraged to use Guardian Caps — protective soft shell helmet covers — whenever they have the opportunity, but say the technology does not mitigate the risk of concussion. "We're not woodpeckers," says Dr. Carmela Tartaglia. "You only have one brain." Hear more from the experts👇 https://lnkd.in/gYUBGw9U
