At The Hollywood Reporter Social Impact Summit last week, a panel discussion focused on the importance of using public platforms for good and the ways community organizations, advocates, celebrities and business leaders can work together to help end the HIV epidemic. “By leveraging their large platforms to amplify HIV awareness and education, public figures play an essential role in reducing stigma and engaging their followers,” said panelist Carmen Villar, VP, ESG and Corporate Citizenship at Gilead.

Last month marked Gilead's Month of Service, an annual tradition where employees step away from their desks and work alongside local organizations to make an impact in their communities. Our service activities included gardening and landscaping, assembling backpacks and STEM supply kits for children, building homes, providing art and science classes to children living with HIV and viral hepatitis and packing meals at food banks. By actively engaging with communities in need, we get closer to our vision of a healthier world for all people.
