💔Every broken heart can be healed over time, but when it comes to serious #cardiac diseases or #Parkinson's desease, it takes state-of-the-art #technology to make an accurate #diagnosis and thus bring relief to the patient or even save their life.🩺🧑🏽⚕️🚑 That´s why the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation is extending the funding of the Collaborative Research Centre 1261 "#Magnetoelectric #Sensors: from composite materials to biomagnetic diagnostics" at Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel until 2028 with over 12 million euros. 🔝🚀 The interdisciplinary research approach encompasses materials science, electrical engineering, physics and medicine. The aim of the project is to develop highly sensitive, #magnetoelectric sensors to improve #medical diagnostic methods, particularly for #cardiac and #Parkinson's diseases as well as #gastrointestinal motility disorders.🫀👋🏽 The big advantage: These sensors work reliably in the patient's home environment and enable more comfortable, more accurate diagnoses. 🏠✅ What is Fraunhofer ISIT´s part in this? On the one hand, we are working on acoustic surface acoustic wave sensors in collaboration with the CAU while focussing on producing sensors using #piezoelectric thin films (AlScN). Another focus is the production of microelectromechanical systems (#MEMS) of magnetoelectric sensors to enable the realisation of the scientific work programme of the Collaborative Research Centre and to supply the various projects with fully or partially processed sensors for their research tasks. a brand-new project focuses on the use of ME sensors for the assessment of gastrointestinal motility. It will investigate whether the use of a significant smaller and #battery-free magnetic probes for the diagnosis of motility in the intestine is feasible, and how its #3D movement in the human body can be detected with magnetoelectric sensors. #Fraunhofer Fabian Lofink Jana Meyer Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein Universität Heidelberg IPN - Leibniz-Institut für die Pädagogik der Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik

Whether in the fields of #medicine, #agricultural #technology, #communication, #aerospace, #nautics, #automotive or #energy supply - #electronics are the centrepiece and #PCB technology is the basis of all applications. 🩺🚜📱🚀🚗⚡ At the #PCB & Assembly Technology Days on 25 - 26 June 2024, current topics such as #recycling, #AI in electronics production, comparison of PCBs in the past and today, further development of PCB technology in German companies, and the future of PCBs & assemblies such as multi-level assembly, embedded components, data transfer, power supply, #data security / #cybersecurity) will be the subject of discussion at the symposium.🦾🔝 One highlight will be the presentation by our Fraunhofer ISIT expert Helge Schimanski in the field of assembly technology on the topic of new concepts for wave soldering of miniaturised SMDs. The lecture ist about the wave solderability of clip-bonded flat power components (CFP2-HP) which was analysed as part of a production study. These SMD rectifier diodes are processed as standard in a reflow soldering process. At the beginning of the study, the parameters with which small adhesive dots can be applied reliably in a stencil printing process were investigated. For the actual production trials, a PCB layout with footprint variations was then created and the test PCBs were produced by a PCB manufacturer. Around 3000 SMD components were assembled with various process parameters, cured in a reflow oven and the assembled test boards were soldered on a wave soldering system in a nitrogen atmosphere. The soldering quality was then verified using optical inspection, X-ray testing, mechanical tests (shear strength) and metallographic cross-sections. Based on the results, a layout recommendation was developed, which is to be implemented in the component data sheet.
