OW-1535 feat: Add support for per application instance parameters on key functions

  • The intent here was to minimise the calls to getApplication() so that we can be more confident of being able to run multiple application instances at the same time within a single browser session.
  • A complete fix was deemed too disruptive to implement, but clearly partial support has already begun
