🔔 We are excited to announce our latest reports with Omidyar Network India unpacking digital public infrastructure from the three different tangents of governance, open source community, and financing. ⚙ Open Source Community This playbook underscores the value of building open source communities around DPGs, with a key focus on understanding how active, inclusive, scalable and sustainable open source communities around DPGs are built. It is a practical resource guide that serves as an effective and innovative approach to building the capacity of DPGs by borrowing principles and practices from open source communities, particularly interventions undertaken to build and grow the communities of two DPG collectives: eGovernments Foundation and Beckn Open Collective. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gqZ46PRr Artwork by Pearl D'Souza   💴 Financing DPI Financing for large-scale tech projects carries mix of obstacles, such as ensuring inclusion and accessibility for users, the efficiency of funded actors, and lack of capacity and training, among other less understood issues. This report aims to unpack the stakeholder and financing landscape around digital public infrastructures and goods. It focuses on 4 case studies of DPIs in healthcare (ABDM and DHIS2), financial inclusion (UPI) and urban governance (DIGIT) to understand the impetus of such creations, the logistics, leadership and innovation that determine the long-term success of these technologies. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gPHm7V3T Artwork by Monjira Sen ⚖ Governing DPI The reports present a principles-based framework on the governance of DPI which provides guidance on building structures that enable accountability, presents a roadmap on development and sustenance of inclusive and equitable DPI, and prescribes norms on participation and collaboration within the broader ecosystem. This research speaks to policy makers while also providing inputs for technology builders and DPI operators, and is informed by in depth case studies into 10+ extant DPI operating within different jurisdictions. 1. Excited to share our latest research from the participatory data programme in collaboration with Aapti Institute, which explores the different factors which makes these initiatives successful. 📈 Learning from the experiences of those leading participatory data initiatives, and from literature around the world, we propose a framework of the main success factors to consider when designing, deploying and running a participatory data initiative: 👩👩👦👦 The participants involved in the initiative. 🤝 The other stakeholders involved in the initiative, including the internal team, the champions and the steering committee. 💻 💷 ⏰ Inputs, including the funding, time and technology available to support a participatory initiative. 🎨 The design choices made regarding the participatory methodology and technology used to engage with participants, the legal and governance model selected to structure the initiative, and the incentives available to encourage participants to take part. 🌦 The external factors outside of the control of the initiative, such as the political climate, system dynamics, and the commissioners of the initiative. Check out our report here, and get in touch if you'd like to learn more about our work on participatory data. https://lnkd.in/ePwMDM4N #data #AI #participatorydata

Despite being at the centre of all digital transformations, data remains peripheral to discussions in global dialogues. Read Stephanie Diepeveen, Open Data Institute and Astha Kapoor’s latest article for World Economic Forum titled ‘We need global coordination on data, not just AI. Here’s why’ exploring the need to bring data on the agenda of global conversations. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ewyP8xpt #data #AI #G20 #governance #tech

'The G20 has a unique opportunity to work towards a shared global understanding and knowledge base around data, as a multilateral forum that represents around 85% of the world’s GDP, and given its emphasis on consensus and open dialogue, as opposed to binding outcomes.' Read Astha Kapoor, Bruno Bioni and Stephanie Diepeveen's latest article 'Call to Action: Why the G20 needs a Data20,' where they discuss the urgent need for global data governance and how G20 can promote productive debates on data from an inclusive and fair perspective. They call for the inclusion of Data20 among the forum's engagement groups to boost the debate on data and provide a timely complement to global conversations. Read here: https://lnkd.in/ggnrSDyQ
