“Beyond quality of life issues, when people are unable to deal with extreme heat, economic productivity and livelihoods suffer," writes Neelanjan Sircar, Director, Centre for Rapid Insights, Artha Global in his latest article in Hindustan Times.   This piece was written based on primary results from an IVR survey run across the country. A key takeaway is that in order for heat mitigation strategies to be impactful, the differential impacts of heat must be recognised and considered when drafting the same. Socio-economic status, gender, and type of work also determine the impact of extreme heat. For example, those who do not own cars are exposed more through daily movement, or those who live in dense, low-income neighbourhoods with little green cover are especially vulnerable. As a cherished & treasured countdown to my #9YearsAtProdapt, here's #Lesson2: HAPPINESS AS A CHOICE vs. HAPPINESS AS A GOAL/ DESTINATION In our fast-paced world, it's easy to fall into the trap of believing that happiness is something to be achieved as a final goal or a destination to be reached. #Happiness, however, is a choice we make every day, regardless of our circumstances/ situations. 1. The Garden story: Think of happiness as a #Garden. We don't just plant seeds and wait for a fully bloomed garden to appear. We nurture it daily, removing weeds, watering plants, and enjoying each blossom as it comes. #MagicTip: By choosing to tend to our garden daily, we experience the joy & satisfaction of seeing it grow, instead of waiting for a perfect moment that may never come. 2. The Fitness Journey: Just like #Fitness, happiness isn't about reaching a specific weight or only about targets . It's about the consistent effort, the endorphin rush after a workout, and the progress we make each day with an objective: “being Healthy, Confident & Fit”. #MagicTip: Embracing the journey rather than the destination keeps us motivated and allows us to celebrate small victories, making the entire process enjoyable. 3. The Music Symphony: #Music isn't just about the final note; it's about every melody, every beat, and every pause. Each part contributes to the beauty of the whole Opus. #MagicTip: By appreciating each moment and note in our life, we create a symphony of experiences that bring continuous joy. 4. The Cooking Voyage: While #Cooking, it's not just the final dish that matters but also the process—the chopping, the blending of flavours, the aroma, the innovation, the permutations & combinations, trying new things, and so much more- Each step is an experience, by itself. #MagicTip: Enjoying the process of cooking (or life) makes the final meal (or goal) even more rewarding, but the joy isn't only confined to the end result. 5. The Travel Expedition: #Traveling isn't only about reaching the destination. It's about the journey—the sights, sounds, and experiences along the way that make the trip memorable. #MagicTip: Relishing the travel experiences enriches our life, providing memories and joy that go beyond the destination.   Happiness is found in the choices we make every day. It’s about embracing the journey, appreciating small moments, and finding joy in the present. GSMA Intelligence never disappoints with their analysis & data. Always; SPOT ON! While going thru their latest #mobility report; found some interesting pointers, worthy to share. So here we go - ➡ #eSIMs are gaining an edge with every coming days. More than half of the new gadgets coming out now have eSIMs built right in. The prediction is that that by 2025 there'll be a billion eSIM connections, and by 2030 - the number will be around 6.9 billion – that's a huge chunk of the market. But there's a little catch; only about 36% of consumers are clued in. Which means there’s a huge opportunity to spread the word more & more. ➡ #Operators see a major cost savings with eSIMs. Also, eSIMs is going to make easier for folks to manage multiple devices under one plan. Win-Win & great convenience. ➡ Now, coming to #5G. It's on a roll. 47 operators had already introduced 5G SA services at the start of '24. And the whole #API movement is also picking up gradually - which is going to be a game-changer for #monetizing 5G. ➡ #Satellite connectivity is also something to look forward to. It's not just about more coverage; it's also going to help to knitting together a truly global network jointly with #5g. ➡ #AI is certainly going to be one of the key focus in #telecom. Companies like - SK Telecom’s going all-in with their AI investment to redefine customer experience. ➡ #Industry is also working towards the sustainability – they’ve already made strides toward SDG 9, that's Innovation and Infrastructure, hitting a 53% achievement rate since 2015.
