Over ons
First established on the 1st of October 2012, FMO Investment Management B.V. offers professional investors access to FMO’s expertise in sustainable investing in emerging and developing markets. Our offering builds on FMO's 50 years’ experience resulting in an EUR 9.6 billion portfolio spread over more than 85 countries. We aim to scale up impact investing by providing investors access to FMO deal flow in sustainable emerging markets investments. We do this by matching investor appetite with FMO’s experience in selected sectors, products and regions. The resulting fund propositions each aim for a diversified portfolio, where each investment we make should generate an attractive financial return and meaningful development impact. Since our establishment we have invested over USD 1 billion on behalf of our investors. In the next few years we aim to do at least double that amount and with it the impact. FMO’s profitable track record proves that impact and return can go hand in hand. Go to https://www.fmo-im.nl/en/the-team to meet our team members. Give us a call to see what we could do for you! Please note that all our employees are based in The Netherlands.

In case you missed it: GEMs data is now available for all and for free! Why is this important? Good question! The Global Emerging Markets Risk Database (GEMs) Consortium collects anonymised data from multilateral development banks and development finance institutions on their performing and non-performing exposures. In return, these member institutions gain access to GEMs output statistics on default and recovery rates by geography, sector and time period. Using the detailed GEMs statistics, members can calibrate and benchmark internal models, set pricing and capital requirements, and make informed investment decisions. GEMs also facilitates technical alignment and sharing of best practices among member institutions, including through working group meetings. The compilation of GEMs risk statistics relies on a robust, shared methodological framework. ... Until now that is. Last week, for the first time the GEMs Consortium PUBLISHED the recovery rates of investments with private and sub-sovereign borrowers in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) for the period 1994-2022. The statistics are collected from the group of 19 multilateral development banks and development finance institutions that are members of the GEMs Consortium and are available online for free on the GEMs website (gemsriskdatabase.org). So, if you are searching for data on emerging markets and impact investing, today is your lucky day! #impactinvesting #emergingmarkets #SDGs #data #assetallocation

Impact measurement and management leads to new insights, big and small. The JIM is a great tool for financial institutions globally to gain such insights into their portfolios. This tool has successfully been piloted at 11 with a DFI/MDB/ impact investor base. Did you know about the JIM Engagement Program (JEP)? 💡🌍 Back in mid-2022, the JIM Foundation initiated a project aimed at integrating commercial banks within the DFI/MDB/Impact Investor client base into the fold of carbon accounting and transition planning initiatives. After a successful pilot the project has evolved into a comprehensive program, now encompassing a remarkable 11 commercial banks. After more than a year of progress, we've gathered invaluable insights and are pleased with how the program is evolving. These 11 financial institutions exemplify dedication and collaboration, and we take great pride in our partnership with them on this journey toward sustainability. Keen to know more? Be sure to stay tuned for our upcoming blog post about the JEP, in which we will explore the valuable insights we have learned along the way.
