At our Mindful Tasting session last weekend… Participants observed how their experience reflected the way they typically responded to similar (unfamiliar) situations in their life. They also witnessed how their current topmost priorities in life contributed to shaping their experience. Every experience is an opportunity to learn about ourselves. That’s the idea behind “conscious experiences”. Every experience can be conscious, shedding light on the way we relate to ourselves and to life. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐲? I get this question a lot since I began pursuing ICF accreditation for our school 2 years ago. There are indeed already many established options, so why? While there are many reasons, the single most compelling factor that pushed me to take the plunge is the ability to empower professionals and leaders in the impact sector. My stints with Teach For Malaysia and the United Nations Development Programme showed me that many talented individuals in the impact sector have a hunger for growth and a deep desire to make a real difference. Unfortunately, they lack the resources to invest in their development. These passionate individuals, already underpaid compared to the for-profit sector, often have to dig deep into their own pockets to become a certified ICF coach. By becoming an accredited coaching school, we gain the flexibility to cultivate coaches in both the business and impact sectors. These coaches, in turn, will spread the seeds of coaching, leading to a wider circle of individuals experiencing its positive impact. We're proud to announce that in 2023 and 2024, we offered scholarships with a 50% subsidy to five exceptional professionals and leaders. But we're not stopping there! We're partnering with the ICF Foundation to provide two fully funded scholarships in 2025. This will open doors for even more deserving leaders who yearn to make a meaningful contribution through coaching. Check out more below!

Elf Coaching , our company is a proud sponsor of the ICF Singapore Chapter International Coaching Week celebration in honour of the professionalism and integrity of the coaching industry. 15 years (in 6 months) ago when we registered our company in Singapore whilst still based in Dubai we had the vision of elevating the coaching industry on home ground. We see ourselves as the elves (as in elves and the shoemaker and Santa’s elves behind the scenes supporting the ‘big guys’ to do what they do best and for them to be known for it). It helps to sparkle some wonderment and magic too. Our first clients were the government of an Asian country (not Singapore - and they were the senior management) wanting a mentoring programme and the next client was a very well known industry leader in the oil and gas industry. And no, it wasn’t because of my name. Not many know of this story. ELF Coaching specifically because we wanted to be different from consulting companies out there as the main and critical impact of our work is we listen, we partner, we deliver in honor of our clients to be sustainable without us. Now ‘almost’ 15 years later we have stuck true to our vision with close friends still not knowing exactly what we do and who we do it with. Some of you had a sneak preview. There’s magic in confidentiality and keeping confidence of who we work with - much against the idea of gaining new business - who usually ask us why we don’t share as much as we do about who we work with. In 2016 we launched a new arm to equip leaders with Systems Inspires leadership and coaching skills for relationships and team. - CRR APAC Our ideology is simple: Most don’t want to share that they want us but will know how to seek us when they need us. So if our work is good, our clients will share about us by word of mouth and that’s the best vote of confidence. This may change as we are always open to share our work and impact with the world and for now, we are grateful for all our client partners who have trusted and those who didn’t as it kept us on our toes of growth and learning. "Embracing the Flux: The Dynamic Journey of Human Physiology" Change in human physiology is an inherent part of our existence, weaving the intricate tapestry of life. From the moment of conception, our bodies are set on a path of continuous transformation, adapting to internal and external stimuli. This dynamic process is not just about growth, but about an ongoing, remarkable symphony of changes that define our very being. As infants, our physiological systems are in a state of rapid development. Bones lengthen, muscles strengthen, and neural pathways proliferate, laying the groundwork for future cognitive and physical abilities. During adolescence, a surge of hormones propels us into a new phase of growth, driving not only physical changes like increased height and muscle mass but also profound shifts in our mood and behavior. Adulthood brings a relative stability, yet the physiological adaptations continue. Our bodies fine-tune themselves to the demands of daily life, whether through increased cardiovascular efficiency from regular exercise or metabolic adjustments in response to dietary habits. However, the passage of time inexorably leads to the next significant phase: aging. Aging is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of human physiology. Cellular repair mechanisms, though gradually less efficient, continue to work tirelessly. It is not just about gaining all the times. sometimes a workshop should be attended to lose we usually attend a workshop with an aim to acquire knowledge, upgrade ourselves, gain something. My workshop on Mindfulness, however aims and helps you to lose. It helps you to lose that tightness and rigidity in your body; lose that conditioned mind, which has possibly become your barrier, lose fear, anxiety and stress. I wish to share with you all this delightful feedback I received from participants at my workshop at UPCL.

Last week, we focused on CSR through a coaching lens. This week, we focus on the importance of authenticity in the coaching relationship and how this can unlock, for example, the latent magic of the acorn.  CSR has been criticised as greenwashing, which could impact people's perception of the employer's brand.  This is one of the many reasons authentic CSR is important. In a coaching conversation, we may explore what gives you a sense of purpose and how what you do professionally contributes to what really matters to you. Authenticity Matters: We may feel a sense of dissonance, which could lead to disengagement. More so if, what matters to you and your organisation seems blatantly ignored in practice. Genuine Commitment:  A genuine commitment to social responsibility and sustainable practices is supported by e.g. the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Is it clear to you where you wish to focus your commitment? Engage hearts and minds: Are you clear about what you want to be and how you want to exist in your setting? Do you feel like a flourishing Oak tree (metaphorically, of course!)? What is at the heart of what you believe in, and do you think it aligns with your core role? Foster Purpose and Belonging: What does an acorn need to flourish and grow? When you feel valued and integral to the company's operations, you're more motivated to contribute your time, skills, and ideas to positively impact society and flourish, as would an acorn with the right environmental nutrients. Coaching is a great way to develop your leadership ability to support you with flourishing and creating the belonging and growth your team needs. Tangible Benefits: Leading an authentic approach to CSR has benefits beyond employee morale. Research shows that companies with vital programmes experience higher employee satisfaction, lower turnover rates, and increased productivity, leading to cost savings and improved financial performance. Coaching can contribute to unlocking these benefits. Enhanced Reputation: Beyond the bottom line, initiatives can enhance a company's reputation and brand image. Effective coaching is also proven to have a positive impact. Therefore, in a conscious world, where consumers prioritise doing business with companies that demonstrate a genuine commitment to making a difference, you play a role in upholding this reputation. Also reflected not just on your efforts, but on the collective efforts of the workforce. Authentic coaching conversations explore how CSR initiatives align with personal and organisational values. By actively engaging employees in meaningful social responsibility efforts, you can drive positive outcomes for employees and the bottom line. As an employee or employer, your role in these initiatives is not just crucial—it's transformative.  Coaching conversations provide a confidential and protected space to explore how your contributions make a tangible difference to the company and the world around us.
