I had Windows 11 on my laptop until it decided to have BSOD every 5 minutes. I tried to check if the OS was a problem and then I booted into a live USB and everything went smoothly. However, when I unplugged my USB, my Windows asked for my recovery key (which I did not have it). Then I went to my live ubuntu again to install ubuntu as the main OS in my laptop, since I could not unlock Windows. I had to format my SSD (that contained windows) through Gparted. I remember creating a partition (but I am not sure), and I have no idea what it is called (it was called nvme before but it does not seem to exist anymore), and once Ubuntu was installing there was a problem and it could not finish the installation. I restarted my laptop and now Ubuntu live cannot detect my SSD disk:( only my USB (Both disks and gpart)

My BIOS is based on Aptio Setup Utility (I have a ASUS Zenbook). There is no field to show the SSD and the boot options only includes my USB. The SATA mode is set up to AHCI since I decided to install Ubuntu. I do not have any OS in my laptop at the moment.

My first recommendation is to delete all partitions on the disk. You should also make sure CSM is disabled. Since you were being prompted for a BitLocker Recovery key, removing all partitions on the encrypted volume, would have been the next step regardless if the Ubuntu installer saw the disk.

  • Agreeing with Ramhound: you need to delete the disk partitions. Commented Jun 25 at 18:11
  • @Ramhound how do I even delete the disk partition if it is not showing up in my live ubuntu? Commented Jun 25 at 18:37
  • @music2myear before my attempt to install Ubuntu, I,formatted my SSD using gparted on live ubuntu. Now, I dont see any disks except for my USB. How do I delete it? Commented Jun 25 at 18:44
