Your domain expires unless you renew it. To avoid this, set your domain to renew automatically each year.
If your domain expires, you typically have 30 days to restore it without any additional steps. However, after that renewal grace period, you must pay an additional restoration fee and take additional steps to restore your domain. Learn more about pricing and supported domain endings.
Turn on auto-renew
Auto-renewed domains renew within a month of their expiration date.
- Sign in to Google Domains.
- Select the name of your domain.
- Open the Menu

- Click Registration settings.
- Turn on Auto-renew.
- Confirm your purchase.
When auto-renew is on, Google Domains charges your account and renews the domain yearly.
Keep your payment method up to date
When you replace or change your credit card, update your payment information to avoid service interruptions.
- You must pay with a valid credit card.
- When you purchase your registration, Google Domains charges the saved payment method for all your domains.
- Sign in to Google Domains.
- Select the name of your domain.
- Open the Menu
- Click Registration settings.
- Under “Auto-renew,” click Update payment method.
- Select or edit a payment method.
- Click Buy.
Turn off auto-renew
To turn off auto-renewal, go to Registration settings and next to "Auto-renew," click the switch.
