Public Speaker/ Humanitarian/ Social Entrepreneur/Environment activist/ Founder of Stand For Talent, GreenSpace Recycling Impact and Talent Innovation Academy (TIA)/ AMAHORO FELLOW 2024
Hey there! I'm Didier Maliki , a social entrepreneur and the founder of GreenSpace Recycling Impact and the Talent Innovation Academy. Originally from Congo, I'm also a young refugee leader in my community. My journey as a refugee began in 2015, and I arrived in Uganda in 2021. Finding a job in Kyaka 2 settlement, Kyegegwa District was tough. I remember my first job teaching middle-class students at RESDA AFRICA , where I earned 50,000 Uganda shillings per month. Despite the challenges, I created platforms to help young people learn French, English and ICT. I'm proud to have assisted many youths in securing scholarships to Canada through #SRP. In search of better opportunities for myself and to support my family in the camp, I moved to Kampala, Uganda. It took me a year to find employment. Seeing 80% of the youth in our community without jobs but with incredible talents deeply affected me. This led to founding #Stand_for_Talent in 2023, a platform to promote talent among refugees and the host community. Our journey with Stand for Talent had its challenges. Finding places to showcase youth talent and ensuring fair pay for performances were tough. Driven by environmental challenges in our community, especially how plastic waste affected us during rainy seasons, I started #Greenspace_Recycling_Impact. We collect polythene bags and plastic bottles, transforming them into eco-friendly products like tarps. At Greenspace Recycling Impact, our #mission is clear: empower youth about climate change and turn plastic waste into sustainable products like plastic timber and tarps. We aim to inspire our community to make positive changes for future generations. To spread our message, we use technology to raise awareness on social media and within our community. Through education and engagement, we encourage sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. Come join me on this journey to create a cleaner, greener future for all! #successStory #socialimpact #refugee The Amahoro Coalition African Youth Action Network - AYAN African Women and Youth Action For Development YARID_Uganda UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency Lazima Innovation Hub Africans Rising Global Refugee Youth Network (GRYN) RELON UGANDA

HAPPENING NOW Today, we kicked off a two-day training aimed at equipping 20 youth with the skills and tools to create effective business plans. By the end of the training, we believe these participants will be able to cascade this knowledge to over 50 other young individuals, enabling them to write robust business plans and propel their enterprises to new heights.
