Dr Ana McMillin, Director of Architecture - Urban Living and New Neighbourhoods at Broadway Malyan, is one of the industry insiders sharing her policy priorities for the new government with PrimeResi Journal. "Affordable homes should remain affordable homes – and we’ve lost far too many of them over decades thanks to Right to Buy, without an adequate supply of replacements." With the King's Speech outlining the UK's new government plans set to be announced later today, discover Ana's plans for the UK property sector - from reinstating housing targets to incorporating design in strategic planning. So ‘What would you do if you were the new Housing Minister on your first 100 days?’ OMG 😱 - Did you really asked me that??? Here you go: Reinstate housing targets on day 1; return the NPPF to its previous version; Remove the Right to Buy and directly fund more affordable housing; Bring design to strategic level plan making to include urban design considerations like density, mixed uses and landscape structure in selecting sites for growth; invest in kick starting Garden Community projects which already have planning consent and have stalled. And I’m so happy to see some of these have just been announced and I’m hopeful for the other measures soon- perhaps the King’s Speech? Thanks PrimeResi Journal for publishing.
