  • What a great EDC Launch we have last night at Bournemouth University!🎆🎈 Over 60 attendees from many different communities, groups and organisation joined the event and shared their questions, expectations and hopes for this project. The event started with welcome drinks followed by a presentation and official introduction of the EDC Team. Kathy Boston-Mammah, BCP Council Community Engagement Manager and part of the partnership, shared how the project came to be and why it is such a key project for our area. The presentation concluded with introductions of the other project partners: Dorset Race & Equality Council and Dorset Community Foundation, including an introduction by Kirsty Main from the National Lottery which has funded this project. Attendees had the opportunity to raise questions and suggestions for the project which the team and partners appreciated and engaged with. Following the presentations, everyone enjoyed delicious, healthy snacks and the beautiful EDC cake whilst networking and chatting to other groups. The EDC team and the wider CAN team are incredibly appreciative of the great reception that the project has had so far! If you want to know more about the project, please email the team and arrange a chat with them! There is still time to book your place and help us understand the role community groups have in promoting an inclusive and respectful community

Tackling hate crime matters, not just because of the devastating consequences it can have for victims and their families, but also because it can divide communities. Hate crime is motivated by hostility and prejudice towards a persons identity or perceived identity. It often goes unreported too. Although we are not seeing a rise in Hate crime in Dorset, we can’t afford to be complacent around such an important issue and we have an opportunity to join together to prevent hate crime happening in Dorset. Join us to share your insights on how local communities can come together to inform important work to spread understanding and respect to everyone. • Wednesday, July 10th, 12:30 - 2:30 pm, Wareham Town Hall • Monday, July 15th, 10 am - 12 pm, online Together, we can build a future where diversity thrives and everyone feels welcome.
