Coleg Sir Gâr was created in 1985 and became a corporate institution in 1993. In 2013 it became Coleg Sir Gar Ltd, a company within the University of Wales: Trinity Saint David Group, and part of a regional Dual Sector University. The College has an annual turnover of over £30m and employs around 800 staff. The College is based in South West Wales and has five main campuses at Llanelli (Graig), Carmarthen (Pibwrlwyd and Jobs Well), Ammanford and Llandeilo (Gelli Aur). The College is also home to Carmarthen School of Art which has its origins dating back to 1854.

As a member of the College Senior Leadership Team, the post holder will play a key role in the development and implementation of College strategies, policies and procedures in the areas of Finance and Procurement. The post, at times, will involve travelling across Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion (5 campuses in Carmarthenshire and 2 in Ceredigion), flexibility in working hours and working within the Dual Sector University (UWTSD - which the college is a subsidiary of). This leadership position requires a seasoned financial professional with a strong background in financial management. Experience of working within the education sector would be beneficial, but not essential. They will be driven to improve their own performance whilst ensuring the performance of others, enabling them to provide the very best experience and service to the College, its staff and learners. The ability to lead and mentor a team of Finance and Procurement professionals will be a key asset of the successful candidate. It may have been cold (at least minus 5°C) in Felinfach last week, but that didn’t stop the learners from Coleg Sir Gar | Coleg Ceredigion coming to visit our new build primary school site. Thank you to Neil Perry-Evans, lecturer in carpentry and roofing and to the level 2 learners for visiting and asking some great questions. The £13m new area primary school for Aeron Valley is a substantial investment for our client Cyngor Sir CEREDIGION County Council and here are a few key facts: - Design and build project for Wynne Construction with first class and modern facilities including 3G sports pitch - Designed to meet BREEAM Excellent standards and utilising MMC (modern methods of construction) - The new school will accommodate 210 pupils, with additional capacity for ALN, Welsh language and pre-school provision - The building will be net zero in use, benefitting from air source heat pumps and PV panels. - Approved and part-funded by the Sustainable Communities for Learning programme through Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government - Completion of this exciting new school is scheduled for the end of 2024.
