Our ILS students recently headed to the Isle Of Wight! 🛳️ 🏝️ Over the 4 days, the students were able to carry out a range of activities; from barrier-free surfing with the Wave Project (for many, it was their first time in the ocean!) to fossil hunting with Dinosaur Isle 🦖 For one of the students in particular, the trip enabled them to experience being away from close family for the first time. Living in a busy household and caring for younger siblings and mum, it was wonderful for them to have some time to themselves ✨ Our Independent Living Skills courses: https://lnkd.in/ghGtHM87

Bit late on the post here but I just wanted to say a big thank you to CITB and Coleg Gwent for having us at the #womeninconstruction #CareersinConstruction event last week. Trying something new out for the day, Rhianne Smith and I ran a costing activity with friendship bracelets. With a budget, a client/design brief, and a time limit, the girls that participated created some amazing bracelets that celebrated women, construction, and wales! The VINCI Building UK bracelet has a new permanent spot on my desk!

I had the pleasure of attending the The Pearson National Teaching Awards today in the #TheRoyalAutomobileClub joining all the silver award winners across all categories. Again, a huge thank you to my colleagues and students at Coleg Gwent for the nomination with special thanks to the judging panel for selecting me for a silver award. It was great to meet fellow FE lecturers of the year and Sean Catford, Claire Pearl and Helen Davies at the event. I look forward to further collaborations later in the academic year. #teachingheroes
