We’re always up for a splash of creativity and fun, and we want to welcome our newest team members the same way. 🤩 The purpose of our Culture Sessions is to provide new team members with a deep dive into Happening – from our rich history to our exciting future plans. Led by Nora Lazić, our last Culture Session was an introduction into who we are as a company, our products, and, most importantly, our people. 🎉 Throughout the day, Mario Pavic unpacked the complexities of our products and the dynamic structure of our product teams, highlighting stories that showcase the impact on our customers. 📈🧠 Filip Reškov simplified our expansive tech organisation with humour and memes, ensuring everyone grasped each team’s role and responsibilities within our 500+ strong tech community. 💪👾 By day’s end, new team members not only understood our organisation inside out, but had also got to know each other in a fun and creative way. 🤝

Our colleagues, Ivan Hrastinski and Sergej Jakovljev, will be speaking at RoachFest by Cockroach Labs in London this week. They’ll be diving into their experiences and providing hands-on knowledge about using CockroachDB to create a scalable ticket storage system on-premises (tickets = placed bets in the Superbet product), and migrating it to AWS Cloud without any downtime. 📈 RoachFest is the go-to event for data leaders focused on delivering the always-on app experiences that today’s customers expect. We’re thrilled to announce that our very own Shreshth Tuli (Shray) has been awarded the Best SPEC Dissertation 2023 Award. 👏 🙌 His research, focusing on using AI for more efficiency, faster, and scalable distributed computing systems, has earned him this recognition, and we couldn’t be prouder. 🎉 This thesis makes a great leap forward at the intersection of AI and distributed computing, tying both fields together and demonstrating the versatility of AI. [Under the Hood] At Happening, we’re committed to providing engaging and innovative experiences for our customers, and the Goal Replays feature is no exception. Here’s how we made it happen: 🔍  Market Research: We ran a small experiment to gauge customer interest, reaching nearly 40% of our target audience. After 4 weeks, we retained an impressive 21.9% and gathered invaluable feedback. 📱  MVP Solution: Leveraging our learnings, we swiftly developed a minimum viable product (MVP) delivering goal replays via push notifications. While effective, we knew there was room for improvement. 📈  Full Blown Solution: We went back to the drawing board, crafting a solution integrated seamlessly into our livescore product. Now, users can enjoy goal replays right where the action unfolds, resulting in millions of views and 100k monthly unique users within just 6 months.
