Thanks for a great night Kepler. The members in our Media Leaders group are really important to ISBA. They are a great group of engaged and experienced marketers who help drive the ISBA agenda. Dan Larden Stephen Chester Bobi Carley
Great conversation at The Ivy Collection last night for the Kepler x ISBA dinner for media leaders. Particularly enjoyed debating the future of retail media alongside Peter Munton. Hearing Isabella Benayoun go head-to-head with Nitin Rabadia on what’s more important, creative or media before Nick Graham stood up for the open internet against Jessica Haley and walled gardens. These events are always so much fun and we’re humbled to be in the company of such great media leaders. Thank you to everyone that came. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Phil Smith, Director General of ISBA, has commented in response to The King's Speech today ⬇ “The importance for brands of the new Government’s agenda has been reinforced by the King’s Speech, which shows how fundamental the change coming to the advertising and marketing sector will be over the coming years. “The overwhelming mission of the new administration, economic growth, will be underpinned by the success of our industry. Proposed laws on product safety, skills, digital identity and data will all have a profound impact, and we look forward to working constructively with Ministers as more detail comes forward. “Brands will certainly welcome stability in terms of personnel, and swift action when it comes to the leftover business of the previous Government – namely, the secondary legislation which is urgently needed so that the new restrictions on food and drink advertising, due to come in next year, can proceed and be complied with. “In common with all other parts of our economy and society, we are also on the brink of a transformation thanks to AI. We look forward to discussing a UK regulatory approach which enables us to harness its creative power and drive innovation. “The first King’s Speech of a new Government is always a reset moment. In opposition, the Labour Party talked about working in partnership with business for national renewal. We anticipate this approach from the new Government, and advertisers playing their part as responsible actors in meeting the economic and social challenges ahead.” #KingsSpeech #NewGovernment #Brands #Advertising

Thank you to our wonderful partners ISBA for hosting Brixton Finishing School #Alumni and Staff at the Presidents' Lunch 2024 (at the very beautiful Dorchester). Hundreds of marketers were in attendance and we were honoured to be included in a highlight of the annual #advertising calendar. Margaret Jobling, #CMO of NatWest Group was celebrated as the outgoing president and passed the baton Pete Markey, #CMO of Boots UK. Pete's speech included a continued focus on #DEI and the inclusion of all talents in our ecosystem which was reassuring in light of the defunding much-needed initiatives experienced in 2023. The #ALLin survey evidenced Brand Marketing as least diverse area of the industry - it's in desperate need of an infusion of all voices to ensure best financial performance (Source: WSJ). James O'Brien, LBC host, podcaster and author did an invigorating fireside chat with Phil Smith, Director General at ISBA - I thought I may start listening to his show it was that good. ISBA members who had contributed above and beyond to the organisation were celebrated with awards, including my tablemate, Ollie Shayer, Boots UK Omni-Media Lead. HUGE thank you to Bobi Carley, Vanessa Vidad and all the ISBA crew for organising the event - we are very grateful for the inclusion! It was a super day yesterday with #ISBA with a very entertaining introduction by Pete Markey and a lovely reminder of where we were two years ago from the out going president Margaret Jobling. A brilliant community of marketers coming together having meaningful discussions and striving for effectiveness and transparency in the industry #originmediameasurement. James O'Brien spiced up the discussion with great insight into how the new Government may play out! Thank you Bobi Carley Jane Pinn Emma Sutton and the rest of the ISBA team.
Yesterday at ISBA’s President’s Lunch, we were delighted to welcome Global LBC’s host James O’Brien to the stage, in conversation with Phil Smith. Throughout the discussion, the recurring theme of trust in the media and in advertising resonated strongly with the audience. Thanks again to all who attended, we hope you all had a great day, and we can't wait to kick start our 125th year celebrations in 2025.
