A new blog provides an insight into how Caroline Bird, a Chartered Legal Executive in our acclaimed Housing team, successfully forced the Home Office to provide suitable accommodation for a client. Our client was an asylum seeker who was being housed by the Home Office under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. We issued a judicial review to challenge the decision to move the client to a highly unsuitable accommodation and the Home Office’s breach of duty in the High Court. The High Court granted the requested relief and then also gave us permission to proceed with the judicial review. This resulted in the Home Office agreeing to finally offer suitable accommodation to our client after three years.
