I was looking for a way to make my Echo Pop portable because I like to listen to Audible on it, but prefer to take it with me when moving from one room to another in the house. This base makes it all very easy. You place the Echo Pop into the device and then use a jumper (included) to plug the Echo power into the base port. You then just use your regular Echo power cord to plug into the base. The base will charge while plugged in, and you can still use the Echo Pop while it is charging. Once it is charged, just unplug the base from the original power cord and you can move the Echo Pop wherever you need it. The Echo Pop has no idea it's plugged into the base, so it won't shutoff or anything - it just keeps on as if plugged in.
While I'm not sure why Amazon doesn't just do this to the Echo series, I am glad someone decided to make this charging base. It works great!
