In my experience, engaging employee to have clear line of sight of how his role contributes to the overall success of the team and the company has been quite rewarding. Clear communication of the deliverables using performance data as foundation for discussion while offering constructive feedback highlighting areas of strength and achievement, as well as areas that may require improvement. One way of encouraging dialogue is by asking open-ended questions that prompt employees to reflect on their achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement. Listen actively and empathetically and get insights and suggestions from their feedback acknowledging that you value their inputs and you’ll implement their innovative ideas.
