This week Army Applications Laboratory hosted VERTEX | Air-Ground Littoral, a two-day symposium where industry meets face-to-face with Army experts to inform the Army’s understanding of how new technologies can address the most significant Army priorities. With keynotes from Dr. James Greer, assistant professor, U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies and Michael Kofman, senior fellow, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, they led discussions on counter drone defense, identification and tracking, information assurance, survivability, effectiveness, and drone manufacturing. https://lnkd.in/gCjUuTg4 #ForgeTheFuture | #TomorrowIsWorthProtecting | #AAL_Army

Last week members from U.S. Army Futures Command supported the Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP)’s "Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science" (GEMS) event. In collaboration with U.S. Army DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory and The University of Texas, GEMS offers students the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics challenges the Army faces. Lt. Col. Jeremiah Hunt, executive officer, Directorate of Integration and Maj. Shawn Driver, commercial strategy and analytics team lead spoke with a classroom of middle schoolers about their time and experience with the US Army and how future engineering and technology will help the Army of the future. #ForgeTheFuture | #TomorrowIsWorthProtecting

Congratulations and thank you, Brig. Gen. Edward ‘Ned’ Bailey, who is retiring after more than 40 years of service to the US Army. Bailey recently relinquished command of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command where he served as commanding general from June 2023 to July 2024. Bailey built a career on being a Soldier's surgeon. He served as a flight surgeon, battalion surgeon, brigade surgeon, division surgeon, command surgeon and has commanded multiple clinics and hospitals. MRDC is the Army’s medical materiel developer, responsible for medical research, development and acquisition. Their expertise in these critical areas helps establish and maintain the capabilities the Army needs to remain ready and lethal on the battlefield. #ForgeTheFuture | #TomorrowIsWorthProtecting

“Tactics are a science, but applying tactics in combat is an art. A military force wins by seeing how general principles apply to a specific situation and being creative with combat solutions.” Gen. Randy George, Chief of Staff of the Army, has recommended Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Hester’s ‘Techcraft on Display in Ukraine’ as one of the recommended reads this month. The US Army’s number one transformation priority is improving battlefield communications network. Army leaders convened at the Network Technical Exchange Meeting 12 held in May to emphasize the effort. “These brigade commanders, battalion commanders, sergeants major, warrant officers that are in the formations, that are technical experts—they are going to have the leeway to decide how we are best organized for the modern battlefield,” Gen. Randy George, Chief of Staff of the Army. https://lnkd.in/gJWAFNNH U.S. Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center | PEO C3T #ForgeTheFuture | #TomorrowIsWorthProtecting
