We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Baptist Health Chief Executive Officer and President, Bill Mason. As a Baptist leader for over 20 years, Bill left a profound impact on nearly every facet of our health system. Bill came to Baptist in 1978 and during his time he saw its expansion to include new hospitals in Fernandina Beach (#BaptistNassau), Jacksonville Beach (#BaptistBeaches) and also the first freestanding Wolfson Children's Hospital. He helped to plan the future growth and expansion of the system that continues to provide care to the majority of the community today. Bill made significant contributions to this city’s health care, including the introduction of Baptist Life Flight, the area’s first helicopter ambulance service. During his time at Baptist, he established numerous programs and services, including the Pediatric Critical Care Program, Heart Center, Baptist Primary Care, Baptist Home Health, Baptist Foundation and Baptist Regional Cancer Institute. We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends and team members at Baptist. Bill is survived by his wife, Juliette Baldwin Mason, and his sister, brothers-in-laws, three children, two stepsons and 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. https://lnkd.in/enPxRMf9

Thank you, Danis! Danis recently made a generous $50,000 gift to Baptist Health's Maternal Mental Health program, the Motherhood Space. 💙 Sadly, many new moms facing mental health challenges don't receive the support they need, and that's why The Motherhood Space Day Program was created. Made up of a team of psychologists who specialize in perinatal mental health, this program offers faster support via both individual and group therapeutic treatment from the space inside the Baptist Wellness Center at Riverside (Winston Family YMCA). For more info, visit https://lnkd.in/eYh6TUm9 or call 904.376.3800 and select option 4 to speak with a coordinator. President & Chief Executive Officer Baptist Health

One of the most rewarding interactions I enjoy as a leader is meeting and spending time with our youth and future leaders. Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend some focused time with Jehu, a rising senior at the KIPP School and a member of our Tipping the Scale Program that pairs a student with a Baptist Health leader for mentoring and development. Jehu, student class president, asked to meet with me to discuss leadership, communication and what is it like to lead a regional healthcare system. As usual, I learned more from Jehu, than he probably did from me. He also spent time with Dr. Tim Groover, Baptist Health Chief Medical Officer learning and sharing with Tim. Leadership Alert : As a leader never miss the opportunity to invest in a young person’s life. Your presence casts a long shadow and they look up to you for inspiration and direction. Please don’t ever miss that opportunity!! #BaptistProud #Leadership #Mentoring

LEADING THE CHARGE IN ROBOTIC SURGERY: The team at Baptist Jacksonville completed the FIRST IN THE U.S. commercial use of a new and improved surgical robot system. We’re #BaptistProud to be pioneers of excellence in robotic surgery! Craig Morgenthal, MD, FCACS, with North Florida Surgeons, and the amazing OR team at #BaptistJax completed two gastric sleeve procedures with the new Maestro System just in their first day of using the digital surgical assistant in their OR. Because of advancements in robotic surgery, patients can undergo these procedures with the potential for reduced procedure times and a positive impact on surgical outcomes. Earlier this year, Baptist Jacksonville teams completed cases with an earlier version model of the Maestro Robotic Surgery System, including a surgery for one of our very own team members, which was performed by Steven Hodgett, MD, FACS, with North Florida Surgeons: https://lnkd.in/eBb3NeFP
