Congrats! Bayhealth’s Carolyn Baitsholts, RN, at Bayhealth Kent Campus has earned a DAISY Award for her compassionate care. The DAISY award recognizes certain nurses for the extensive care they provide. All nurses are required to tend to their patients but some go above-and-beyond. The DAISY award is a way for patients and families to extend their thanks to nurses they feel have provided the utmost care and respect for them and their needs. When caring for an expecting mother, Baitsholts was compassionate and a consistent advocate for her patient. Baitsholts thoroughly explained information regarding the patient’s care plan to ensure that she was aware and comfortable with everything. Baitsholts demonstrated what her patient called “proactive nursing”, putting the utmost effort into ensuring that her delivery was safe. Her patient noted how multiple team members praised Baitsholts as a compassionate coworker and leader in the field of nursing. “The unknown of this delivery process was scary and met with challenges along the way. Carolyn was my advocate, my educator, and biggest fan,” said Baitsholts’ grateful patient and nominator. DAISY Award honorees are chosen by nurses, administrators, peers, physicians, volunteers, patients, and families. If you know a Bayhealth nurse who deserves to be nominated, visit Bayhealth.org/DAISY and fill out the nomination form.
