Reducing GHG emissions from the commercial sector continues to be a challenge for mayors as they work to meet their net zero commitments. Adam Freed from our sustainability team speaks about how BA has supported Mayor of London Sadiq Khan’s Business Climate Challenge (BCC), a voluntary program helping London businesses to decarbonize. Over 200 London workplaces have already received support through the program, and almost 300 more are taking the challenge to reduce their energy use and save money. We are proud to work with the Greater London Authority on a program that is good for business – and good for the planet. Check out the video below to see how London is positively impacted by this initiative.

It was an honor for Bloomberg Associates to support Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo in organizing the International Convening of Mayors Addressing the Issue of Homelessness. At the event, city leaders exchanged ideas about how to assist those in need, address stigma, and match local workforce needs to newcomers' skill sets.

Bloomberg Associates reposted this
Great feature article by Kathleen Kelly Janus in Stanford Social Innovation Review with public-private partnership lessons from her work in the Newsom Administration. Appreciate the nod to Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Mayor's Fund led by Mike Bloomberg: "Over the past two decades, local, state, and federal governments have built the infrastructure required to take a partnership approach. From 2002 to 2013, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg led one of the most successful local partnership efforts through the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, which raised nearly $400 million and worked with 40 city agencies and offices to support more than 100 public programs, from launching family-justice centers that coordinated services for more than 93,000 victims of domestic violence to raising more than $60 million for Hurricane Sandy response efforts. Following his tenure, Bloomberg Philanthropies [Bloomberg Associates], Bloomberg’s philanthropic organization, established a dedicated team to promote this model by advising municipal leaders on partnership structures and strategies in cities across the globe from Los Angeles to Athens, Greece." https://lnkd.in/eUSAHrre

Izzie Deixel from our cyber and tech team is speaking at the Cyber Civil Defense Summit at Berkeley today to present how cities can find volunteers to support cybersecurity improvements – which is one of the areas we are focusing on in 2024. Cities need to fill more security related roles with existing vacancies but also build a network of volunteers who can help their effort. Learn more and register here: https://lnkd.in/gHhWwpHF
