CFAAR hosted its second annual Global Food Allergy Prevention Summit in Chicago this month, drawing clinicians and researchers from around the globe to strategize the future of food allergy prevention research. This year’s summit, held from June 30th to July 2nd, expanded its focus by offering three distinct sections: The Pediatric Food Allergy Care Conference (PFACC), The Summit for Advancing Equity in Food Allergy (SAEFA), and GFAPS workshops. The growth in #GFAPS was due to the overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s event, with participants eager to maximize the summit’s unique collaborative structure. Attendees travelled from as far as India, Australia, and England to participate in the event, offering their perspectives as allergists, pediatric care providers, researchers, industry partners, and patient advocates. Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research (CFAAR) reposted this
Founder, President, Volunteer Exec Director of FOODiversity. Focus on health equity, with a special interest in the intersection of food insecurity and food allergy/celiac. Views are my own.
Big thanks to the Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research (CFAAR) team and Ruchi Gupta, MD, MPH leading this collective effort to improve patient health outcomes and QoL. Was wonderful to collaborate with colleagues and meet many others dedicated to this work. Feeding Community Health #healthequity #prevention
FOODiversity spent June 29-July 2 in Chicago attending 2 CFAAR conferences: Summit for Advancing Equity in Food Allergy (#SAEFA) and the Global Food Allergy Prevention Summit (#GFAPS). We were joined by clinicians, researchers, scientists, key thought leaders, and industry partners to focus on strategies that reduce barriers in food allergy patient care. Researchers shared about the critical need to deliver information, about the feeding guidelines for early introduction of allergens, to parents of infants. During the "Nonprofit Advocacy Updates and Patient Perspectives" panel, FOODiversity described our programs that expedite food and education resources to patients who otherwise lack access. In the Poster presentation, FOODiversity was honored to present, with Attane Health, our program findings related to addressing food insecurity in the food allergy population. Feeding Community Health - FOODiversity's joint program with AllergyStrong - was highlighted as a key strategy to involve community stakeholders, e.g. healthcare systems, community-based organizations and schools, to further increase protections for people with food allergies. Many thanks to Center for Food Allergy and Asthma Research (CFAAR) for organizing and hosting these important conversations. #foodallergies #foodinsecurity #SafeFOODsCostMore #access #education #earlyintroduction #healthequity
