  • Did you know that women make up less than 14% of engineers worldwide? Women in engineering are true pioneers and trail blazers, but of course, we already knew that here at ELR. Our female engineers are top-notch. Engineers are the backbone of our business but are supported by a diverse team of other industry-related professionals, such as geologists, designers, landscape architects, and construction inspectors. And even more individuals work diligently behind the scenes in our company, handling tasks ranging from billing and payments to maintaining insurance, fielding phone calls, and even crafting this social media post. As we celebrate women in engineering today, we also commend all the women throughout our organization who play crucial roles in keeping operations running smoothly. We extend our gratitude to each of these women for their invaluable contributions to our engineering family. Wishing everyone a pleasant Sunday! #INWED #womeninengineering

  • Happy 161th Birthday, West Virginia! On this day in 1863, West Virginia became the 35th state, and only the second state to spilt from another. For over forty years, EL Robinson has worked to embody the Mountaineer spirit of hard work and forging our own path. While ELR has branched out to other states, we carry that West Virginia motto close at heart – Montani Semper Liberi (Mountaineers are Always Free). #WVDay #ELRobinson #westvirginia

Casting a line isn't always about reeling one in, but enjoying nature's beauty and the camaraderie in the boat. ELR - Charleston Infrastructure Designer, Dale Proctor and his family are avid adventurers on West Virginia's waters, and he echoes this sentiment. "For me hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors isn’t so much about what we are getting or how many we're catching. It's about the story and the memories that we are creating. Introduce a child to fishing," he says, "it could be just the first chapter in a great story!" Fishing is a tradition passed down from his late father and holds profound meaning for Dale. It was tough at first to get back out there on the waters without him, but with the encouragement of his family it has really helped Dale with missing his dad. "With the passion my wife, children, and other family members had for fishing," Dale reflects, "It didn’t take me long to look at things differently and get back out there." At ELR, the only thing that rivals going fishing ourselves is when we can create accessible ways for others to enjoy it. The fish are biting all over the state, but that doesn't mean every spot is safe or access is easy. ELR has improved or built nearly 10 fishing access points over the years. Notable projects include the Little Coal River Boat Ramp at Lincoln / Kanawha County Line near Alum Creek, WV, and the Kanawha Falls Fishing Dock off Rt. 60 near Montgomery, WV. On this National Go Fishing Day, take an opportunity to explore the joys of angling. And if you're interested to contribute to our mission, drop us a line—we'd love to have you on board! https://lnkd.in/d7S5_AT6 #CivilEngineers #EngineeringInspiration #GoneFishing
