We're excited to announce our case study with Neo.Tax! 🎉 The fintech platform, which helps companies provide audit-proof documentation for R&D tax credits and software capitalization, uses Merge's ticketing integrations to streamline the process of generating these reports for customers. Here are some highlights: ⚡ They've been able to take ticketing integrations live 300% faster Based on their experience with implementing integrations in-house, they estimate that it would have taken roughly 8 weeks to launch the integrations that they took live with Merge in 2. ⌛ They've saved tens of hours of engineering time per integration build According to Miguel Hernandez, Neo.Tax's Tech Lead, “Using Merge, we’ve been able to save our engineers tens of hours per integration, which enables them to solely focus on developing the best solution for automating R&D tax credits and software capitalization." 🧠 They use LLMs + integration data to provide a differentiated product experience Miguel explains that "By giving our LLMs ticketing data, they can use semantic context to determine the project a given ticket falls under, if any, and how many hours a ticket takes to complete. This gives us a competitive advantage, as we don't have to rely on accurate record keeping of work hours and projects within customers' ticketing systems." How did Neo.Tax launch ticketing integrations in just 2 weeks? With Merge. These integrations allow Neo.Tax to access a wide range of ticketing data from customers’ systems, including tickets’ names, creators, assignees, due dates, teams, tags, and created dates. Neo.Tax is at the forefront of their industry, using LLMs to then enrich their ticketing data -- calculating certain metrics, such as effort estimation, and classifying a given ticket with a specific R&D category. Very exciting to get a shoutout from Andreessen Horowitz! From "Death, Taxes, and AI: How Generative AI Will Change Accounting" by Marc Andrusko and Seema Amble 👇 🧠 "Before genAI, practitioners needed to run basic keyword searches through all these databases, at best, or more likely check a pdf manual or email a colleague, to answer their own questions and make determinations. But in a post-LLM world, purpose-built copilots — trained on the aforementioned data sets and all the precedents set by them — should be able to answer these queries deterministically. Over time, they can also be trained on judgment calls that fit the firm or professional. 🎉 There are numerous startups offering solutions across this spectrum. SPRX and Neo.Tax, for example, specialize in R&D tax credits, whereas Materia helps provide better guidance and accelerated research."

We wanted to highlight another of our favorite CF0to1 posts this week! ⭐ In this one, we spoke with Nicolas Malianni, who walked us through his career path: from a small family winery to Grant Thornton (US) to Intercom to his current role at Notion! 🗣 "Especially earlier stage your role is to help the company grow in any way," he explained. "The true back-office transactional side is just table stakes. But for a startup to succeed, the finance function really has to be strategic. You can live in that land of customer experience and sales strategy, and drive strategic decisions if you want to. I think every accounting and finance person should." Q3 begins next week, so it's time to get your ducks in a row for taxes. Somehow, (even after all our blogs and posts about it... 😀 ) the majority of companies that qualify for an R&D Tax Credit don't file one. With Neo.Tax, it's never been easier to get the money you're owed! 💸 And starting with the 2023 Tax Year, companies can now claim $500k to be applied toward payroll taxes — that's double the former max credit! Think about what that $500k could mean for your business: extending runway, hiring engineers, investing in that innovative product, and more... 🧠 We have a team of tax experts ready to walk you through our streamlined, AI-powered filing system. It seems to good to be true, but it's not: the law was literally written to incentivize innovation in America. Not claiming it just means you're leaving money on the table... Read more about the IRS Guidance which doubled the credit below. 👇 And get in touch if you need help filing!

To highlight another of our favorite CF0to1 interviews: here is our first! A fascinating conversation with Mercury's VP of Finance Daniel Kang. 🧠 For someone drawn to fixing problems by understanding every side of the issue, the macro-elements of finance — the ability to make the intangible tangible — has natural appeal. "The thing that finance teams are uniquely positioned to do is actually stitch together what's happening across the company into a unified view," Kang told Neo.Tax. 🗣 "This isn't an original thought but: the best finance leaders are great storytellers as well, in terms of how they understand and interpret the business and can actually tell a story about where it's going in the future.” If you know a CFO, Head of Tax, or business-side leader who we should highlight in our CF0to1 series, tag them in the comments! And read more of Daniel's insights at the link below 👇

To pick your favorite case study is a bit like picking your favorite kid 🤪 but I must admit this one with Neo.Tax is a fave! https://lnkd.in/gia6bk-h We try hard to do case studies differently at Neon. Our main goal with these is not to surface competitors' weak points or to harvest numbers for sales decks but to highlight how the community uses our product, inspiring new users and supporting each other. Hopefully, you'll discover some cool new startups when reading these, and you'll also learn something - e.g. those small-but-huge benefits that might get lost in our general marketing, like this one use case for branching 👇
