Our summer programming is underway, and we are excited to have expanded experiences and offerings for more than 1000 Philadelphia students, thanks to our corporate and higher education partners, including Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania. Our widespread Summer 2024 offerings provide middle school, high school, and college students the opportunity to explore interests and gain hands-on experience in some of the city’s major career sectors, including business, technology, and engineering. We also introduced a brand-new program, Health Pathways, in collaboration with Penn School of Nursing, which offers students invaluable, first-hand experience in the healthcare sector. Our six-week internships in research laboratories at Temple University, along with several of our other summer programming opportunities, kicked off last week. Our students participating in the research lab at Temple will spend the next few weeks working closely with a Temple graduate student mentor and attending special events to help prepare them for a career in STEM. We can't wait to share more updates about what our Heights students are up to this summer! This week's #HeightsHighlight are Heights founding members of our newly formed Alumni Engagement Leadership team, Amber Nichols '06, Dr. Kali Avans '07, Courtney Dean '07, and Vincent Costello '03. In an effort to bolster alumni involvement and support opportunities, Heights has launched an alumni engagement team. Thank you to founding members and Heights alumni Amber, Dr. Kali, Courtney, and Vincent. Following our annual graduation event at Citizens Bank Park, an alumni happy hour was held to introduce our future plans and invite alums to attend a Zoom brainstorming session to gather information on ways to further enhance the alumni network and experience. Event participants ranged from 2024 graduates all the way back to our initial class of 1994. Core themes of alumni leadership development, alumni-to-alumni mentorship, career support, social events, and volunteer opportunities emerged. Please look out for invitations to follow-up conversations and more focused discussions based on the areas alums have identified as helpful to their continued personal and professional development. If you're interested, reach out to Liz Sutton, Associate Director of Alumni & Volunteer Engagement, at lsutton@heights.org! #ReachNewHeights #HeightsPhilly #HeightsAlumni #HeightsCommunity

We are still beaming over our momentous 2024 Graduation Celebration at Citizens Bank Park, where we had the opportunity to celebrate 500+ students taking the next step from 5th grade, 8th grade, 12th grade, and college to school and workforce success. What made this year so special was the amazing talent and words of wisdom from all of our student performers and speakers, who lit up the stage and made the evening truly one to remember. Many thanks to Franklin Learning Center’s Universal Language Band, as well as Yin, Jorge, Neo, Bezawit, Kadiatu, Mohamed, Malea, and Kelvin for sharing their voice and talent with the Heights community! This week's #HeightsHighlight is high school senior Sheikh Sharaf-Uddin. Sheikh graduated from Carver High School and will attend Temple University in the fall as a Lenfest Scholarship recipient to study marketing. Sheikh first got involved with Heights during his Junior year. His Heights coordinator, Mr. Robinson, was a huge support throughout the college application process, helping him choose which colleges to apply to and explore different career paths. Sheikh is excited to continue to stay involved with the Heights community as a collegian. Please join us in congratulating Sheikh on his success so far - we can't wait to see how far she will go! #ReachNewHeights #HeightsPhilly #HeightsStudents #Classof2024 #HeightsGraduation2024
