This is a useful and clear explanation from TechEquity Collaborative of what happens when a renter applies for an apartment and the landlord conducts a tenant screening. It explains the impact of new algorithmic tenant screening processes and how they can scale bias - how they can perpetuate historical biases embedded in data. When applicants are rejected, they are usually not given a reason - they don't know what data was used and if it was accurate or not.
Good news from DeKalb County, where HouseATL recently held a Member Convening and a co-hosted a conversation with electoral candidates. HouseATL member, Andy Schneggenburger, is quoted in Decaturish.com about the DeKalb County commissioners plans to create a housing plan.
