Disability Pride Month was introduced in 1990 when the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law as a way to celebrate the history, successes, struggles, and experiences of the disabled people’s community. After nearly 17 incredible years with Cambridge Health Alliance, I bid farewell to this remarkable safety net healthcare organization. My journey with CHA was profoundly fulfilling, both personally and professionally. Working for a mission-driven organization so deeply committed to enhancing community health and operationalizing health equity has been an honor and a privilege. Throughout these years, I've witnessed the power of taking the long view. Addressing the root causes of health inequity isn't a sprint—it's a marathon. It requires centering those closest to the impact of historical and present day racism. It requires persistence, collaboration, and healing centered engagement and advocacy. Through collective efforts and shared vision developed with community partners, we demonstrated a path to impactful change. I thank my colleagues at CHA, Tufts University Family Medicine Residency, local community based organizations, our legislative delegation, municipal leaders and the coalition members who continue to invest time, effort, and expertise in the name of building more equitable communities. I will take your gifts of knowledge and perspective with me in my next role at @HousingFamilies. I am thrilled to contribute to this extraordinary team as the Senior Director of Policy and Strategic Partnerships where I look forward to working toward the mission of achieving housing equity and well-being for all!

At Housing Families, our partnerships mean the world to us. That’s why today Molly Abrahamson, Director, External Relations, and Anthony Presti, Development Associate met with Melrose Together leaders Sam Hammar and Linda Apple, and The Food Drive Founder Jana Gimenez, to discuss needs in Melrose and how to deepen our existing partnership. We are extremely proud to announce that Housing Families attorney Taylor Shutt, Esq., has been appointed to the City of Malden Human Rights and Fair Housing Commission. Taylor is a housing attorney who specializes in eviction defense and landlord-tenant claims. She also has background in Social Security Disability claims and consumer protection.    From Taylor, “As a resident of Malden myself, I’m pleased to join the Human Rights and Fair Housing Commission and expand my service to the community. Housing Families recently hosted State Representative Jessica Giannino to provide her with an in-depth introduction into our work at Housing Families and learn more about potential ways we could work together to serve the community.
