Another win in Traverse City! TART Trails has achieved Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) status following completion of an autism and sensory training program through IBCCES. This training equips staff with the knowledge needed to make the TART Trails experience more accessible. Traverse Area Recreation and Transportation (TART) Trails, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to provide and promote a trail network that enriches people and communities throughout the region. TART Trails' certification is part of a broader community initiative to turn Traverse City into a Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD). This award is granted by IBCCES to communities offering a variety of trained and certified options in lodging, recreation, entertainment and service organizations. Play Dxb is a prominent entertainment and recreational hub in Dubai and is one of the several attractions managed by Emaar Entertainment LLC. This cutting-edge indoor playground achieved the Certified Autism Center™ designation last year after its staff completed the autism-specific training and certification process from IBCCES. This training equipped them with the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to create a welcoming environment for all. Play Dxb’s achievement is part of a wider initiative by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) to achieve the Certified Autism Destination™ (CAD) designation and help shape Dubai's tourism landscape by providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests. Great News! The Santa Barbara Zoo has renewed its Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designation, reaffirming its dedication to welcoming autistic visitors and those with sensory needs. The designation, awarded by IBCCES, has been held by the zoo since 2018. As the first zoo on the West Coast to earn this certification, the zoo has forged meaningful partnerships with organizations that support the autism community. The zoo offers sensory backpacks and has designated quiet areas for guests with special sensory needs. Additionally, the zoo hosts Autism Safari nights, a social event for individuals with sensory sensitivities and their families. They also have a social narrative and other resources to help autistic guests and parents on their website. Water World completed the recertification process as a Certified Autism Center™, ensuring the team has up-to-date training and resources to serve all guests and provide a welcoming environment. Water World was named the first water park in Colorado to achieve this designation in 2020 and continues its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals and their families. Apart from the training and certification, Water World offers sensory guides to assist guests in planning their visits, along with a sensory room that provides a quiet space in the park for those experiencing sensory overload or needing a calm environment to relax and recharge. Additionally, the park provides the Attraction Access Pass (AAP) free of charge, which helps guests navigate the park and reduce wait times for rides.
