High levels of this protein occur in response to stretching caused by increased ventricular blood volume. • High levels also indicate heart failure because your heart is working harder to pump blood to meet the body's needs for blood and oxygen. • InBody BWA's trunk and whole-body ECW/TBW (extracellular water/total body water ratio) data correlated with lung fluid content, as measured by a chest CT scan (p<.001). • Higher lung fluid content was also found in the heart failure group compared to the control group The study concludes that NTpto-BNP significantly correlated with lung fluid content and our segmental ECW/TBW measures from the trunk and whole-body. Therefore, BIA technology by way of InBody BWA devices, could be used to monitor lung fluid status in patients with heart failure.
