The Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate was created to support the faculty, students and real estate industry through research, guest lectures, job placement, executive education, fundraising and events. The Institute offers an undergraduate Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration in Real Estate and two graduate degree programs, a Master of Science in Real Estate and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Real Estate. These degree programs offer specialized classes and an inter-disciplinary approach combining urban economics with "hands-on" real estate learning. The Institute also offers two graduate certificate programs – Real Estate Finance and Investment and Real Estate Development. These certificates offer focused knowledge in their respective disciplines using the “hands-on” and “industry-knowledge”-based learning represented in all of the departments courses.

Today the Diverse Developers Conference hosted its second Deep Dive Series event focused on Debt and Equity Capital. The event, co-hosted by the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University, attracted more than 130 people and a great roster of speakers from throughout the capital ecosystem. After years of developing new condos, townhomes and single-family homes for Chinese immigrants and investors in Chicago’s Chinatown, Bridgeport and McKinley Park neighborhoods, Jack An was ready to venture into commercial real estate. To make the pivot, he pursued a master of science in real estate from the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate. Jack is now a senior investment analyst for Transformco Properties, where he does underwriting, financial modeling and forecasting cash flows in the repurposing of former big box retail stores such as Kmart and Sears stores. “We seek to maximize value and find the best strategies for those properties whether through a sublease, build to suit or conversion to multifamily, storage or other type of facility,” Jack said. Highlights from his time at MBIRE include being treasurer of the real estate club, attending networking events and making connections with advisory board members.
