Mather Hospital earned its 20th top ‘A’ grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group in the current ratings period, the most of any hospital in Suffolk County. The national distinction recognizes the hospital’s commitment to patient safety and achievements in promoting best outcomes. “This national recognition is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our entire Mather team,” said Executive Director Kevin McGeachy. “We have created a culture of safety that encourages team member to speak up about any possible concerns.”

The national distinction recognizes the health system’s commitment to patient safety and achievements in promoting best outcomes. The results are in — Healthgrades, the leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor, has named three Northwell Health hospitals among the best in the country: Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, and Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson. In addition, many Northwell hospitals were also recognized for outstanding care in specialties, with 11 different programs being named among the top 5 in New York — of note, the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital was ranked No. 1 in the state for cardiac surgery.

Mather Hospital announced today that for the second year in a row, it has been named one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for 2024, according to new research released by Healthgrades, a leading resource consumers use to find a hospital or doctor. This achievement puts Mather Hospital in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance and reflects Mather Hospital’s commitment to exceptional patient care. Congratulations to the entire Mather team for this achievement!

Mather is proud to launch our cardiac rehab! The rehab provides care after a major cardiac event.
