This investigation by the Local, based on interviews with present and former township employees and experts, shows that MFA should have been installed years earlier.

After 23 years, four kids and two businesses—it’s safe to say that I feel engaged and invested in Montclair. Relying on strong, local, independent journalism keeps me informed about what’s going on in our community. Only a local news organization with boots on the ground can effectively engage with the municipal government, public schools and small businesses to share valuable information that impacts our lives on a daily basis. Montclair Local fills those shoes in our township. I want to highlight my support as the parent of four children who went through our public schools. With all the difficult news swirling around us daily, I love reading the Montclair Local news and seeing positive, fun, informative stories about our kids, their teachers and coaches. Without a local newsroom, many of their accomplishments would go unsung. These are stories that highlight everything we should be proud of in Montclair. The New Jersey Technology & Sustainability Accelerator has been an incredible experience for Montclair Local! The programming, coaching and peer-to-peer support are helping us to ensure sustainability for our nonprofit news organization.

Meet Carlie Holm, a Montclair High School senior who has been interning with us through the Career Internship Program. Carlie is on staff at the school newspaper, The Mountaineer. This fall, Carlie will pursue a journalism degree at Temple University. We are excited to have her on our team at Montclair Local!
